It's been a liberal bastion for a very long time, he was never going to have a chance there, spl given the demographics but why would they have a tough time ?
He's spoken about stopping funding for sanctuary cities (they don't go after illegal immigrants), that's about all I can think off.

You're correct. Nothing much will change. We are affected far more by our state government than the federal government. The same is true about every state. The governor is a Democrat, and Democrats now have a "super-majority" in both chambers of the legislature.
Trump, however, will of course have a huge impact on the federal government, foreign policy, economic policy, etc.
And Hillary Clinton would have won the electoral vote if it wasn't for Texas, Florida, and Alabama. We can play these games forever.
Enough of this nonsense, please. Evey state in America is a part of the country. Hillary received the most votes in the election, and Trump received the most electoral votes. Let's accept this and move on.
