TRUE POTENTAL OF CPEC

only in pathetic Pakistani mentality lies the thinking that everyone is out destroy CPEC..countries may have their objection...in the end..everyone will have to get along and make money....Gawadar does not offer an iota of benefits what Dubai does with its free zone...forget Gawadar ever becoming a competitor to Jebel Ali in global trade..Dubai will not lose its luster of free zone..Just having a free zone is one thing..Dubai offers an integrated trading package with free zone, maritime, transport, banking and finance..and most importantly connectivity to gulf markets...

Dubai Is An Established Hub And Right Now Has All The Facilities. It Is Wrong To Think That Gwadar Will Become A Hustling Bustling Hub And Dubai Will Become A Ghost Town Overnight.

But I Would Disagree with you Gwadar On One Thing Can Become A Competitior With Dubai In The Future On The Condition That Proper Policies Are Adopted.Remember 3 Things

1.Gwadar Is A Natural Deep Seaport(Before Construction Work Started on Gwadar It Had A Water Depth of 9.75 m) On The Other Hand Jebel Ali Is A Manmade Harbor and Has To Be Continuously Dredged

2.Gwadar Has A Massive Hinterland Not Available to Dubai. Also Dubai Offers Transshipment,Gwadar Is Multifunctional and Multidimensional

3.Dubai Ports(Port Rashid and Jebel Ali) Are By and Large Saturated.Congestion is An Issue. So Charges Are Higher.Gwadar Has Got A Massive Advantage With Lower Labour Cost and Miles Upon Miles of Free Inland Space

Sir I have huge respect for UAE-Pakistan relationship but unfortunately UAE is going to be natural rival for Pakistan in the coming years which will either create competitiveness and increase business for both nations or will lead to deterioration of relationship between Pakistan and UAE.

One of such example is South Asia Pakistan Terminal (SAPT), After completion of SAPT Karachi is now able to accommodate large vessels and won't need to use services of Jebel Ali as previously the large vessels had to be docked at Jebel Ali, reloaded in small vessels en-route to Karachi and now upon completion of SAPT It won't require services of Dubai consequently leading to loss of business to port of Jebel Ali.

Gwadar port and Chabahar will further dent the port of Jebel as these are the nearest ports situated in strait of Hormuz and Dubai. It is true that the port of Jebel Ali is not facing immediate threat from Gwadar and its established chain of services requires a lot of time to fail and Pakistan do not have any intentions to rival Dubai anyway but it is common sense that any business coming to Gwadar is a potential business loss of Jebel Ali. The point is, Dubai only have limited resources to generate income from and the free port of Dubai is one of them and if Gwadar port rises to rival with Jebel Ali, that's huge business loss for potential revenue of Jebel Ali even if stays amongst top 10 ports in the world

Gwadar's Utility For The Domestic Economy:
As We Know Right Know Pakistan Has Two Ports,Karachi and Bin Qasim.Bin Qasim Is An Industrial Port And Was Primarily Designed to Cater Steel Mills.Only Later With Expansion Did Bin Qasim Start Handling International Trade. As Of Now Karachi Port Handles 60 % of Pakistan's Seaborne Trade While Bin Qasim Handles 40%.
Such Dominant Market Share Has Allowed KPT To Charge Extremely High Charges for Ports Usage. This Makes Our Export Industry Incompetitive

https://www.thenews.com.pk/archive/print/36640-teachers-being-forced-to-pay

Indeed Karachi Port Is Notorious For Having The Highest Port Charges In The Region. This Has Also Scared Away Shipping Lines

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...iled-by-pakistan-s-move-to-raise-port-tariffs

Gwadar Port With Lower Tariffs Will Definitely Provide Local Industrialists With An Alternative. This Competition Will Also Allow Force Karachi Port To Lower Tariffs Thus Benefiting The Domestic Economy As A Whole

A Hyundai Merchant ship of 94,511 GRT for a two-day stay at Karachi will have to pay $82,905, which is 77 percent higher than India’s Nhava Sheva port and 51 percent more than Sri Lanka’s Colombo port, Lee wrote.

The higher tariff comes weeks before billionaire Li Ka-shing’s Hutchison Port Holdings is due to start commercial operations of the nation’s deepest port called South Asia Pakistan Terminals Ltd. Hutchinson’s new $1.4 billion port in Karachi, to be inaugurated by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif next month, will also have the higher tariffs.

You forget that Saudi is also building a string of ports to rival Jebel Ali and Saudi has a very big coast line and very cheap port rates!

Jebel Ali is just not a port..it a complete trade in a package...Dubai has ports, freezone, banks, finance, capital and most importantly a vibrant living..A millionaire will not come to invest in Pakistan so he can drive an econobox suzuki swift or pay 200% on importing a Mercedes..high living standards is why Dubai will maintain a leadership position!

Brother It Is Not Just Saudia,Kuwait Qatar,Oman,Iraq And Even Dubai's Cousin Abu Dhabi Are Builiding Highly Advanced Seaports.

Abu Dhabi Is Investing A Whopping $7 Billion In A New Deep Seaport

If Dubai In Uncomfortable With Gwadar It Should Be Tossing and Turning Over Khalifa Port :lol::lol:

If Dubai Is Conspiring Against Gwadar,It Should Be Conspiring Against All GCC Countries. It Should Also Conspire Against It's New Found Friend India As It Is Also Building A Deep Seaport

and Sri Lanka

Competition Is Always A Good Thing. But Gwadar Still Enjoys Certain Advantages w.r.t Depth Location Which I Can Explain

I think cpec will also result in development of new cities as urban migration will take place. Lot of vacant land will be filled up

Gwadar As Re Export Hub or Entrepot:

1.Introduction:
Re-Export or Entrepot Trade Has Little to Do With The Location or Geophysical Location of The Country. It Has More To Do With The Trade Regime The Country Has Vis A Vis Other Countries.Re-Export Hubs Are Third Country Location Which One Country Uses to Access The Market of Another Country.
E.g Iran and USA Do Not Have Direct Trade Relations. However Traders From Both Countries Use Dubai As A Re Export Hub Since UAE Has Extensive Trade Relations With Both Countries.US Exports Reach Dubai From Where They Are Offloaded on Iranian Ships Heading For Bandar e Abbas.

2.Situation of Pakistan:
Pakistan Is Fortunate To Have Duty Free Market Access On A Wide Array of Products to China Owing To It's FTA.Similarly Pakistan Has A GSP Plus Status Granted By The EU Which Allows Pakistan Duty Free Access to EU Markets.Pakistan Also Has GSP Status With USA.

But Trade Relations Between USA China and EU Have Always Been Tense.Owing To The Massive Wave of Cheap Chinese Imports,Both EU and US Have Imposed Heavy Tariffs on Chinese Products From Time to Time. This Includes 11% on Solar Panels to Cycles At 48% Upto 73% on Steel Products.

3.How To Take Advantage:
Pakistan Enjoys Relatively Free Unbridled Market Access to EU,China and US.We Can Convince China To Import CKD/SKD Kits Or Other Sub Assemblies(Automotives, Cycles Home Appilances Consumer Electronics etc.) to Gwadar SEZ Assemble Them Here And Export Duty Free to EU

We Can Offer The Same Thing To EU and US To Take Advantage of Our Duty Free Access to China.

But We Should Plan Carefully To Do This.China In Order to Bypass EU Duties Started to Assemble Bikes via Pakistan Phillipines And Cambodia.Bikes Flooded EU In Such Short Time That EBMA Filed A Complaint and EU Imposed Anti Dumping duties on All Three Countries Including Pakistan Inspite of GSP

Woow i spent alot of time very first time to read all the interesting comments. where is the next Post? i am waiting i cant wait ok :pissed:....

kindly read my Post

is there any effect by DMIC on CPEC ???

DMIC Is Purely Domestic With Japanese Assistance to India.CPEC Has An International and Geostrategic Angle While
DMIC Is Purely Economic in Nature

Gwadar As Main Port For Western China:
Over A Period of Time The Economy of Eastern Coastal China Has Matured and The Costs of Production Are Rising.
This Has Forced Many Industries To Relocate to Other Low Cost Countries. In Order to Reverse This Trend China Is Encouraging Industries To Move to Central and Western China Where Costs Are Still Low.That Is Why They Are Investing Heavily in The Infrastructure of This Region. It's Therefore Not Surprising That While Growth Is Slowing In China,Xinjiang Is Growing At Double Digits.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China_Western_Development

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rise_of_Central_China_Plan

But In Order To Have A Viable Access to International Markets You Need Access to Sea and Seaports Are Far Away From This Region. This Is Where Gwadar Comes Into Play.Gwadar Will Provide Access To Newly Established Industries
in Western China To International Markets.Gwadar Is Distance Wise Closer to At Least Three Western Chinese Provinces Than Ports on Eastern Coastal China.

Gwadar could compete with Dubai in the future.

There is a huge a future for Gwadar in the future. Gwadar can be much better than Karachi.

Can you just use bold font for your titles only and stop using bold font and big letters when posting comments. It is very annoying to read.
