Travelers exploring the beauty of Saudi Arabia - a country the size of Western Europe

@Al Watan Al Arabi can I ask you what happened here?

A few idiotic troll posts from 2 users. See post 104. Nothing big. The moderator in post 104 dealt with it perfectly otherwise they would have hijacked this informative, beautiful and peaceful thread with their absurd nonsense.
Imaginary nonsense of Israel opening an embassy in KSA, women in bikinis on beaches etc.

Are you telling me that you would not want to try that as well?

Bad jokes aside, you do realize that KSA is in the top 15 in the world (almost 200 sovereign countries of the world) in terms of most visited countries by foreigners? How many of them have (apparently) undergone what you just wrote? The answer is zero.

Diversity in KSA from all the many historical regions and ethnic minorities.

Southernmost historical Hijaz.

Umluj is a small fishing village in Hijaz. In its vicinity there are many farmlands and the nearby region is known for its rich seafood.

The city has a very pleasant weather all year round. The average high temperature is 27.5 Celsius. Record temperatures are rarely above 35 celsius. Almost never below 15 celsius either. So ideal weather in many people's eyes. Also fresh breeze most of the year like most of the Red Sea region in KSA.

Saudi Arabia edges closer to issuing first tourist visas
Sources say visas will be open to citizens of about 50 countries, reportedly for a fee of $117

By Bloomberg

Tue 03 Sep 2019 02:21 PM

Saudi Arabia is edging closer to allowing tourists access to the kingdom with a plan to open visa applications at the end of September, according to three people familiar with the matter.

The visas will be available to people from about 50 countries, one of the people said, while another said that the country list was still in flux as recently as last month.

The plans were first reported by Saudi newspaper Okaz, which said the visas would be issued online or on arrival for a fee of SR440 ($117) starting September 27, citing people it didn’t identify.

A public relations firm linked to the government has invited reporters to an event that day called “Saudi Arabia opens to tourism.” However, the Okaz report was later deleted and the government said its plans hadn’t been finalised.

A spokesperson for the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Heritage said the report wasn’t accurate, adding that while discussions were “underway,” no final decision had been made.

The conservative Islamic kingdom has long been one of the hardest countries in the world to visit, largely limiting visas to business trips, religious pilgrimages or family reunions. But in 2016 -- as the oil price rout wreaked havoc on its finances -- the government said it wanted to develop tourism as part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s economic diversification plan.

It is building major tourism projects, transforming its Red Sea coastline to bring in holidaymakers and developing an entertainment city near the capital of Riyadh. The government opened limited online visas last year for foreigners attending special events, seen by many as a trial run for the tourist visa.

Authorities have put particular focus on advertising Al Ula -- an area in the northwest layered with the ruins of ancient kingdoms.

It’s unlikely that hordes of European tourists will flock to a country where alcohol is banned, women must wear floor-length robes in public and it’s forbidden for unmarried couples to be alone together.

However, the new visas could attract more adventurous travelers.

One reason it’s taken so long for the kingdom to allow tourists is the tension between opening up and maintaining conservative traditions. Officials have promised for years to make it easier to visit, saying repeatedly that tourist visas were around the corner.

Big news if it turns accurate.

Almost 100.000 foreign tourists have visited KSA in the past 3 weeks alone since the tourism visa on arrival to some 50 countries were announced. 15.000 Chinese alone. Very impressive numbers considering the almost non-existent tourism infrastructure on a large scale.

KSA is already in the top 15 of most visited countries in the world but the goal is to reach top 5 by 2030. 100 million annual visitors. A bit ambitious but better than unambitious goals.
