And this is what she was saying a couple days after that incident being blown out of proportion by some Pakistanis.
And you cannot deny the fact that over 10 million foreign tourists visit India every year, and that number is rapidly growing. Whereas Pakistan just barely crossed 1 million recently. And there area PLENTY of stories of tourists and journalists being raped and killed in Pakistan, although they are not as publicized as bad experiences of tourists in India because India is a much more famous travel destination. There is a reason why the US, UK, Australia, and other countries have travel warnings against Pakistan, but not India.
As for what Americans think of Pakistan, well frankly, most Americans can barely find Pakistan on a map, so I doubt they will have strong opinions one way or another. Obviously, in larger, more liberal cities, people will have more favorable views. In more rural areas especially in the South, Midwest, and Mountain West, those views will not be so good.
As for the topic, well its simple. Iran has an authoritarian system of Government that strongly limits individual freedom but mostly keeps the country secure. wheras nearby Pakistan and Afghanistan have "democracy," but their system of governments does not allow them to actively address issues of instability within the country that Iran does. Combine that with corruption, and there is a severe shortage of infrastructure needed to stabilize the country.
You can even make the same argument about India by comparing it with China. China has done a better job of dealing with militant Uighurs than India has addressed Maoists and Naga and Manipuri rebels(although fortunately those groups are surrendering and dropping like flies).
It's also funny how in a thread about stability in Iran, Pakistanis are ranting about Indians. I think it's clear to see whose obsessed.
