In late 2017, the Saudi Defense Electronics Company was launched in a partnership between Taqnia, owned by the Public Investment Fund and Turkey's Aselsan. The new company will create a unique infrastructure capable of designing, developing and producing electronic systems and radars.
The CEO of the Saudi Electronics Company said in a previous statement that "no technology will be transferred except by a clear system and a clear request from the beneficiaries to confirm the truth of the request and then the stages of transfer and localisation will begin in Saudi Arabia, the transfer and localisation of the technology will not be direct but will be gradual and in stages..It will be started with the Turkish company for the latest in the field and then start to develop, design and test it in Saudi Arabia.
Here are some actual products whose technologies has been transferred (and more in the pipeline..):
1- Electronic Warfare Simulation System (MUKAS) The name of the Saudi regime (Mithal)
2- Long range EW plane (HAVASOJ) The name of the Saudi aircraft (Kaseh)
3- Helicopter Self-Protection System (HEWS) The name of the Saudi regime (Hami)
4- Ground and Marine Surveillance Radar (ACAR) The name of the Saudi system (Kashef)
5- The spy plane (MULTI-INT) the name of the Saudi plane (Ishaar)
6- Reconnaissance, surveillance and targeting system designed for manned and unmanned aircraft (CATS)
7- Electronic submarine radar support system for submarines (ARES-2SC) the name of the Saudi system (Ghawas).
8- Naval ship radar (ALPER) the name of the Saudi regime (Moustakshef)
Other Technology Transfers:
- Radar for detection and tracking of mortars.
- The system of killing small and micro UAVs.
- ThermoVisors for Sniper Rifles.
- A family of thermal cameras that can be carried on various systems.
