A special squad has been tasked with countering the rising incidents of street crime in Karachi.

Trained by Pakistan Army personnel, the squad has 100 police commandos who will patrol on motorbikes. The squad will initially operate in the city’s Korangi district.

District Korangi is also home to one of the largest industrial zones of Karachi where robbers target industrialists, traders and workers.

How can the Army train a policing unit is beyond me!

Army is trained to fight wars, not to police their cities.

Army is trained to fight wars, not to police their cities.

However, there is specific number of Army trainers deployed at Police Training Center to train selective Police Force to take down criminals with more effective tactics. This is not about drafting a Police Law rather modernized tactics. The unit is not designed to police the city but it has a specific role against criminals hence, trained through an extra course by Army trainers. It matters a lot.

But the report above states that they were trained entirely by the Army. We should have trainers from UK/US and/or other countries which have experience with violent and abundant street crime.

Yes, there is six months Elite course under total supervision of Army beside usual Police training. Police Officers could have been utilized for training through courses from UK or US but we are speaking of Sindh Police that reportedly had signed MOUs in past but then, no further progress. Since Army instructors, Fresh Squads seems to be capable as compare to previously training.

This might be necessary, but to discourage street crimes civil laws should be modified; where sale and purchase of electronic and auto gadgets should be authenticated.

The same has already been identified by sindh rangers deployed. Its a nexsus which needs to be broken.

.
Much of the crime is committed on bikes, you need men on bikes to take these fast moving vermin out.

.
No need to create new force. Just improve local Police increase their size and give them bikes and please for GOD sake introduce facial recognition software like China has done
