jamahir's comments...
firstly, i hope i am not posting a religious thread per se.
the film seems nicely made though the female dresses seem more to with iran's government prescribed dress code than with history of makkah.
if i get to see it online or if even in india cinema halls, maybe i would still prefer the mustafa al-akkad version "the message", released in 1976, which had problems created by the saudis initially but were then resolved by muammar gaddafi who not only arranged the rest of the financing but also allowed the film to entirely be finished in libya ( morocco was initially the other location )... i liked that film.
mustafa al-akkad died on november 11 2005, from injuries sustained in a bomb blast at a hotel in amman - jordan two days earlier... this source[1] says that the bombers came from iraq and were wanting to target muslims... so yeah, the usa-government-brought "democracy" killed the man who made this film... the puppets were not israeli but those who called themselves muslim.
coming back to the latest film, a stupid mullah organization in india has passed a fatwa[2] ( who are they to do this?? ) for (a). the film to be not released in india, (b). against the film's music director, the indian maestro a.r. rahman, (c). against the film's crew ( really?? so they will carry their fatwa burning torches to iran?? ), (d). calling indian muslims to act against the film in a manner that is "within legal limits".
a bunch of fools this "raza academy"... you can check their past actions, including when they went to iraq in 2003 before the "coalition of the killing" began bombing... the "academy" mullahs were in iraq for two days or four days after which they must have panicked about the coming bombing and came with caps and kurta and above-ankle pyjama without one speck of blood from the to-be-invaded iraqis and one dot of crumble of dust from a smart-bombed hospital.
back to the latest film... iran government has however supported mr. rahman and given a sensible message to "raza academy"[3]...
the below shows that our indian mullahs jumped the gun...

The fatwa against Mr. Majidi, Mr. Rahman and other co-workers of this film have asked them to read kalma again and solemnise their marriage once more. “They have erred and they must apologise,” he said.
When it was pointed out that most members of the film’s crew were Muslim, Mr. Noorie said that it was more important to make them realise their mistake. “We would have been criticised if we had condemned American or Danish filmmakers. If it’s an insult, then it is an insult and the person’s religion doesn’t matter,” he said.

"The film of Majid Majidi is an artistic work and any opinion about it should be expressed only after seeing it... launching hot discussions before seeing the film may be wrong, illogical and incorrect," said the embassy's release.

Raza Academy's general secretary Saeed Noori told TOI on Tuesday that neither he nor Mufti Mahmood Akhatrul Qadri, who issued the fatwa, had seen the film, which doesn't show the face of the child actor who plays the Prophet's role.
