Toxic cough syrup kills 16 in Pakistan: officials

Those doses must not be able to kill.... There might have been an overdose...

India are the cheapest producers of generic drugs. Indian companies can be invited to invest in pakistan, if ur govt wishes

Indian drugs are many times cheaper and are of better quality than pakistan's drugs. There is ban on indian drugs, if it is lifted the benefit would be for poor patients of pakistan.

PML-N & PPP are running Govt. in Punjab they should be charged for they are directly responsible for all these deaths. Their crimes against the people of Pakistan are endless.

Chinese Medicine?

Blame game by the Govt. & the coalition to save their corrupt a$$e$. Even if these medicines did kill the people then how did they make their way through, ofcourse it was not without the approval of the Govt. (PML-N & PPP).

Chinese Medicine?

for god sake for once leave china out of this man read the thread

feel sorry for the loss of innocent life's the the people responsible should be punished to make an example for these fraud company's

Some people will always misuse the medicine. Sleeping pills are used for suicide, Cough syrup is used to get high in Bangladesh, and Indian made prescription pain killer, Tramadol, is used as a drug in gaza.

Even though people don't die by overusage of cough syrup. It must be spurious coughsyrup, similar to the spurious heartmedicine used in Karachi.

Stringent time -to time check are required to monitor the product from the manufacturer.

Tramadol is created and manufactured by a German pharmaceutical company.

Well they are. To allay the fears of local manufactureres, JV can be formed.

LAHORE: Tyno syrup, which was earlier believed to be contaminated and toxic after 17 people who consumed it ended up dying, was given a clean chit in the forensic tests conducted on it, Express News reported on Wednesday.
The 25 samples of Tyno syrup which were taken for conducting tests, were proved to be unadulterated and not toxic.
According to reports, the people who died after consuming this syrup earlier in Lahore either overdosed on it or used it in combination with some other substance.

Following the forensic report results, the factory that manufactures this medicine has been opened partially.
Earlier, 17 people died when they consumed this cough syrup, resulting in seizure of stocks and a ban on it.

There is mistake somewhere. Syrups are tested as such that it does not produce any side affects in combinations with any other drugs.
4 or 5 people could have tried to overdose it for drugs. Not all 17. Something, somewhere have gone fishy.

no mistake but fake drug factories/ the bastards who earn through puting lives of people to risk

Pakistan can import medicines from India if needed.

We have a potent pharmaceutic industry, we don't need to import routine drugs.

Problem here is more about fake drugs, fake companies by bribing officials obtain a license and start producing/packing faulty drugs. Unfortunately doctors are also involved, they enjoy the privileges offered to them by prescribing such drugs.

Yeah, Indian drugs are comparatively cheaper and of course are of high quality. But the point you made about the quality of Pakistan made drugs is flawed, it's an untrue notion. Use the drugs of standard pharmaceutical companies, bit expensive (as compared to the drugs offered by fake companies) but are absolutely in accordance with international standards.
