I think that we should do a total reconstruction or reorganisation for the Turkish Armed forces, which will make it a more effective force.

I think that the conscription should always stay as the Turkish race is always ready to war and every Turkish male is ready to fight. However I think instead of paying 10,000 Euros to not do conscription under the new law I propose this idea.

If you don't want to do conscription completely you have to pay 500,000 turkish lira which is around ($250,000) +. This will be payed by Alot of businessman for their sons and themselves, footballers, singers, and millionaires. There will be many who are willing to do this.

If you want to do short conscription which is 4 months this is 50,000 turkish lira (25,000+). Again this is for middle upper class families and people yet they will do it.

And the final one is to either do normal service which includes not many dangerous roles unless emergency situations, is do 12 months military service. Or they can choose to do another service for 18 months which other countries have such as public service or any other role the military wants such as engineer etc.

This will reduce the army to around 300,000. This will reduce the costs for soldiers Alot allowing better armed soldiers and more into airforce.

I believe a 150,000 professional is more than enough (UK dropping to 82,000).

We can allocate our $15-20billion budget more to airforce. I believe we should have at least 400 modern jets at any given time and a layered air defence consisting of naval tf2000 sm2/3, new long range air defence, Aselsan medium and short range air defence.

If I was Turkish, I would wish to see TSK having 120 Anka Armed with Umtas ATG missiles (B variant) in both the TuAF and TGF, 1,000 Ataly Tanks in the TGF, 5,000 Oktor Cobra tank (1,000 which will have the BNC suite and newer electronics), at least 2,500 Panther Artillery pieces (500 based in FOB in the Syrian border regions to over 50 miles radius) and 500 T-155 Firtina 155mm self-propelled howitzer. It would be cool to see Camo helmets, and Amour suites being standardized to the level of the US army for the common infantry soldiers. An new rail system for the G3 rifle would be great but I think Turkey can create an more advance assult rifle. For the T.Navy, It would be nice to see the introduction of an indigenous 8,000 ton AW Destroyer (DDG) with SAM suites and Anti-Ballistic missiles like the SM-2 ABM, and create an Aegis like System (I heard Turkey created an Naval system for it's OP frigate called Genesis!?). The Turkish Airforce would have 150 F-35C and 45 F-35B for LHD of the Turkish Navy.

The Turkish army will be getting a new assault rifle which will soon be inducted. We will also be getting 1,000 Altay tanks and more modern units with ballistic protection. Also we will be getting a destroyer called TF2000 with Aegis armed with sm2/3 I think 6 as well as 6 new type 214 submarines. Currently we have 14 type 209 submarine the biggest non nuclear submarine fleet in NATO.

Our airforce in 2025 will be something like this
115 F35
240F16
And the new fighter called TFX / or buy a new fighter.

1. -> This will never happen. The price is just crazy. No one, not even rich people, will accept this kind of diversity "rich" & "poor".

2. -> Again, why classify the population and alienate people against each other? Keep 'em united, much more focused power. (Birlikten guc dogar hesabi)

3. -> People living outside Turkey will have big troubles with taking off time from job and other duties. What are those peoples families going to do? A maximum of one calendar month, tops, can be asked, subjective opinion, from outside living citizens.

4. -> Sweden, may not be a perfect example, has a professional army, albeit a small one, would get "raped" in an eventual conflict with say, Norway or Russia. And the geographic place of Turkey doesn't give room for a "smallish" professional army of just approx 150k. You need more than that, Turkey covers a big land area, the border areas are highly dangerous and must be monitored 24/7.

5. -> Who are you preparing to go to war with? Those quantities would be nice during Cold war, not today. No neighbor, except Russia, is capable of taking up a full fledged war against the Turkish army even today, with so many airplanes we would burn too much money.

Are you by any chance a milionair?
Or do you think there are only rich people in Turkey(or rich Turks abroad)
Or maybe you are just joking?

The Structure of the TAF is well made. The only problem is the Force Commanders and the ones in prison. About new things, it's already happening. We just need time. And if I'm not wrong. The biggest piece in the budget is NAVY's.

Thanks for your response but I think we can save and relocate Alot of funds by moving into more modern armed forces. For example we have unnecessary amount of M60 Tanks which keep costs high. We have around 800. We could scrap all these and maybe use 100 for other purposes. Our defence budget is around $15 billion ( not including jandarma). As murat bayar said 1/3 of this is maintenance costs which are tanks and other old things.

If we scrap 600 of our M60 Tanks, all of the F4 and all the old BMPs we could cut huge costs .

Instead we could buy more ANKA and air superior fighters.

Sounds reasonable. The M60's are mainly used as parade tanks nowadays :D the current frontline MBT of the Turkish forces are the Leo's. When Altay starts production, we will gradually see the old tanks get scrapped. The F4 phantoms are so beautiful but too costly to keep.. Hopefully when the F-35's starts mass production, much bullshit going around in that project, our F4's will be scrapped I think. Keeping the M60's and F4's are stop gap until the replacements come in.

You and your navy,we bought two rowing boats for you and your friend Amstrong(in yellow and red).
The navy is the best equiped of the armed forces,we need a better equiped airforce.
