'Top speed' Alfa-X Shinkansen test train debuts

JR East will start driving test of the vehicle ALFA-X on May 10, 2019 to reach to commercial operation at 360 km/h, which speed will be the world's fastest as a Shinkansen bullet train.

JR East aims to start services on the Tohoku and Hokkaido Shinkansen lines using a train based on the Alfa-X around fiscal 2030, when the Hokkaido Shinkansen line is scheduled to be extended to Sapporo.

They screwed up on the shape. The front looks like a duck's beak.

So they are still trying to reach speeds of 360kmph. Should have asked Chinese engineers for help.

I think its more for safety reason as the long beak will absorb most of the impact.
