Top Pak Ulema issue fatwa declaring suicide attacks 'un-Islamic'
Sun, Dec 6 12:00 PM

Lahore, Dec.6 (ANI): Top Pakistan cleric Allama Tahirul Qadri and chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman, Mufti Muneebur Rehman have issued a Fatwa declaring suicide attacks and bomb blasts 'un-Islamic'.

Issuing the Fatwa here, which would be released across the world in three languages, Qadri said : "Any armed struggle against an Islamic state fell in the domain of rebellion."

Rehman added that Islam prohibits killing of innocent people, and that such barbaric acts could not be justified.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik, while welcoming the fatwa against extremist activities, termed it a 'positive step'.

On Saturday, while condemning the suicide attack on a mosque in Rawalpindi in which 40 people were killed, including several army officials, Malik had urged Ulemas (spiritual leaders) to issue Fatwa against suicide attackers.

He said the attack was a reaction to the on going military operation in South Waziristan and Swat. (ANI)

Nothing is new in these fatwas.

They should pass a Fatwa that terrorist are munafiq and justified the Reactionary attack of PA on the madressas and mosque of these munafiq/takfiri groups, which are root cause and recruiting agencies of suicide bombers.

I think suicide attacks happen because of persons strong will power and determination this has nothing to do with religion. Especially when the adversary is strong.

This was observed during WW II - Kamikaze attacks
Palestine and Iraq war etc.

Hence such Fatwas may not work.

But results of all above suicide attacks was ultimate failure.

In Islam suicide is haram, even in Pakistan, Iraq or Palestine.

"Any armed struggle against an Islamic state fell in the domain of rebellion."

So armed struggles against Pakistan are O.K. as long as you don't consider Pakistan as Islamic state. Just like the TTP.

What a stupid fatwa!

Why do you concern about the mentality and thinking of Taliban? They do not agree with the Constitution of Pakistan, in which the name of Pakistan is Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The President and Prime Minister will be Muslim. The Supreme power is Allah and the ruler will rule the people under the rights given to him from the Supreme power. Now who told us about the rights which a ruler will have? Of course Islam.

What a stupid fatwa!

I do not think so. It was the need of hour. We criticised our Ulama for not speaking about the Suicide Bombings and when they are doing so we are again criticising them.

And BTY I think the 'FATWA' of Pope Urban II (Crusading Bull) was more stupid than this.

KIT Over

Because the fatwa serves the purposes of both sides of the conflict. Which means Qadri and Rehman only spoke up in a pathetic attempt to keep themselves relevant in the conflict - and maybe to stoke their own egos.

Do you know what happened when the competing Christian factions of Europe resorted to this in the Thirty Years' War? Europe realized that peace wouldn't come through organized religion of any sort and proceeded to find peace without giving a veto to the pope or any other religious leader. At the end the pope and some Protestant leaders objected to the terms of the Peace of Westphalia and they were simply ignored by all!

After that, even the common people relied on their own consciences and learning more and more and religious leaders less and less. Do you think Pakistan will be any different?
