China is the only real hedge due to its seer scale against the US-EU and China should openly court Japan and Korea should join forces .Be accommodating,sensitive ,and educate them what this geopolitical competition is about , it's about white supremacy vs yellow or gold hue skinned people's rightful rise . I think this is natural attraction; the key for China is to be able to retain them. Wrong policies (such as absurdly draconian measures against foreign university personnel due to pandemic) may easily alienate them.

I guess is the immense though control, propaganda, censorship, doublespeak in the name of free speech, diversity that make life for academics really difficult. This is now creeping into academia, while it has been rampantly corrupt and dystopian for engineers in Facebook and Google.

My respect for Facebook and Google ....etc drop to zero when some very close incompetent co-workers or ex-classmate of mine got in and get promoted.

its like when Europeans went to the Americas in 15th century all the native died due to common cold but Europeans were ok because flu was in Europe for 1000s of years and they had immunity
