(Reuters) - When Huawei Technologies posts its annual results in April, they will likely show the unlisted Chinese firm has overtaken Sweden's Ericsson as the world's top-selling telecoms equipment maker.

This is a good news for Huawei but will definitely put pressures on local rival state owned ZTE.

ZTE will just take away market share from other foreign companies and change focus.

Already the other state owned Datang Telecom has switched its focus to standards research.

Sadly.. chinese companies like Huawei use Pakistan as their testing ground. Giving us untried and untested equipment that has a high rate of failure. They make their corrections based on the feedback here.
As an example..the call connect percentage on all calls has an international standard of something around 97%. Telenor was using Nokia-Siemens equipment which was meeting that with 99.98%.
Huawei offered to sell cheaper upgrades and equipment to Telenor which they readily accepted.
However.. during the first month of operations the success rate dropped below 70%.. and telenor Pakistan was swarmed with complaints from angry customers.
Even now, Huawei has failed to match the standard it gives to european nations with what it gives Pakistan.

Chinese companies can give products for an attractive price. But it stops there. The quality, build, durability and such parameters are miles away from other well rooted brands.
In short, if there is an offer for a huawei and an Ericsson for the same price, Erricson wins.

this is the least that Pak can do for all the help it gets from china..

Sigh.. perhaps the old friends not masters ideals need be brought up.
The quality when it comes to military products is usually top grade.
But the fact has less to do with Chinese products, and more to do with Pakistani demands.

most of the tech in switches is software. HUAWEI would not write two separate code just like Microsoft doesn't have 2 different Windows.

In that case, they should be brought to court for contract violation and pay financial penalty. Business is business. This is also a good lesson to the company so they can improve.

No, there is no violation.. as the companies themselves are responsible for ignoring the small print in what was a government encouraged deal.
After all.. Huawei was offering something which normally cost $100000 for $25000,, what idiot will not go for that.
Trouble is, they also advertised similar specs and reliability to the more expensive product.. but never delivered as their equipment was in the testing stage. The fault Ethically lies with Huawei.. and Morally with their customers here for going cheap.

The equipment huawei gave to these companies was state of the art, there is no doubting that. But it was in its beta testing stage which was not conveyed to the customer. The very same equipment has been sold to europe at higher rates, but with matching reliability.
