Very interesting that India is #22, ahead of all other (large) developing countries, apart from Mauritius and Maldives.

I am not really surprised that Brand India is ranked 23. The ranking is based on the parameters that measures

1)Making peoples lives better
2)Creating emotional desires and demands in people
3)Consistent across all touch points
4)Point of view on the future
5)Drives the world forward
6)Economic performance and power

IMO, on all parameters, India has done reasonable good in last 5 years.

What surprises me is that China is ranked 56th!

If you see the graph,we have actually fallen from the 18 place to 23 rd (5 places down from 2009)

Guys.. This is a survey of international travellers based on their perception of the mentioned parameters for these countries. Its more a reflection of how the world sees each of these countries. China unfairly gets a bad deal from Western perceptions due to negative publicity it recvs in the West. India slide could be a result of the events leading upto the CWG. Pakistan has been receiving pretty negative press all over the world, and hence the rating

The international travelers also include business travelers...hope that transforms into real business for India

ya Indian products are quality products.... I can trust more easily on Indian brands rather than chinese when i have to buy on terms of quality

but chinese products are cheap.... no offense intended
