I remember when I was back in Secondary school in Hong Kong, we went on a school trip to a Shenzhen container port, and my teachers would always say "Shenzhen is going to surpass Hong Kong soon, remember that".
Now all the Chinese cities are surpassing us, except Shenzhen, lol.![]()
so typical, how can america be the largest economy and have only one single port, it shows their trade is mostly capital and digital and service crap. All fake economy which is hold by the dollar and wall street.
What would be interesting to see which cities have the most land based trade traffic.
HK port is trying hard to stay above Shenzhen lol. Your teacher should have used a different example of how Shenzhen will surpass HK in other areas back then, he would have hit the jackpot
Yep, it's only a matter of time when Shenzhen will surpass us in Port activity too.
The first time I went to Shenzhen with my parents, I was only a little kid, and I thought it was a great city, maybe a little bit like Hong Kong except less developed.
Now when I go to Shenzhen I am shocked at how advanced it has become. A lot of Mainland cities look more developed than HK now, Shanghai for example looks like it's from the future.
wow, China has 9 out of the top 10?hmmm....where is port of Singapore thought it was among the top 3? don't think the list is totally correct/complete. i know china is bound to dominate it but there should be Singapore in the top 5.
Also surprised to see that Germany being the worlds 2nd largest exporter after china has no port in the top 20. kind of fishy. Also surprised to see that India,Brazil, Russia(other BRICS) don't even figure in the top 30 list.
As someone already said , i can understand why the U.S has only 1 port in there, since the U.S produces mainly I.T,Finance, airplane, services and other high tech goods. so its understandable. but what i don't understand is the other BRICS country lagging so much behind.![]()
