Top 10 Figther planes?

Looks like a very good evaluation..

But would like to see two additions in the list.

First is F16. Best dog-fighter ever produced. Flawless combat record. Good serviceability. large scale of production. Multi role of its resulting in lesser number of type of fighters in air-force. And most importantly, no loss to any enemy aircraft.

Second is Mirage 3/4. Very good sortie rate, very good climb rate and sustained turn rate.. These were deadly in the hands of Israelis in the Arab Israeli war of 1967..

Rest of the list is quite OK and justified..

You might say that the list is for currently operational one... The list in the first two Videos is for all-time.. I hole you understand..

stupid mistake on my apart yeah thats what i meant..i think its obvious too.

Even if you consider the modern aircraft standing, LCA and Jf 17 wont stand a chance in there...

For top 10 modern fighter jets, I would ranking by this way

10. Mig 29 KUB- Good dogfighter, but lag due to range..

9. Su27 & J11- Heavy fighter bomber, with good range and weapons package.

8. Gripen NG: Good weapon package but single engine and no operation AESA

8. F18 SH: good one, but lacks power.. growler would be quite rate above this..

7. F 16 block 60: Excellent fighter throughout the four decades.. War proven..Have reached its maximum development capability and can't be developed beyond this.. Though can give a wet sleepless night to any other enemy pilot.

6. J10B: looks a good platform and future prospect is excellent for development.. Although a present lacks AESA, but once get it would become a deadly one and can take any western fighter neck to neck.. Weapons package can be a issue since they are not war proven..

5. Su30MKI/Su35B: Air superiority fighter jet.. Good avionics and reach.. Looks to have a good weapon package... Problem is associated with bulkiness and huge RCS..

4. Rafale: SPECTRA make it a lethal weapon.. Good omni role fighter jet.. good weapons package and air to air as well as ground capabilities.. very less RCS adds on to it.. Cost of fighter jet is against it.. Also yet to have a operational AESA...

3. Eurofighter: Modern state of art machine.. Excellent weapons package.. very less RCS.. can supercruise.. very agile in air.. Cost is big issue. Yet to have operational AESA... Have a consortium of 4 nation, hence need clearance from all..

2. F 15: Though platform is quite old, goodies in it make it very lethal than other fighter jets.. Have an operational AESA.. Excellent weapons package that anyone would doubt... Excellent speed of 2.5 mach.. The problemes are, very expensive, have high RCS as you can expect from a air superiority fighter jet.

1. F22: A air dominance fighter with every thing one wants in this modern fighter jet age.. No need to give an explanation. The problem is very expensive and very maintenance intensive.. Hence not produced in numbers.. Haven't been used in war. A good EW fighter jet like Growler or Rafale is can give a good run to this machine.. But still feel like a lone lion in the jungle..

Jf17 and LCA missed the list since they haven't seen action yet.. also the tech is not upto the mark of these mentioned aircrafts.. F35, t50 fgfa, J20, J15 are still under development and hence cant be considered in the list..

I hope I made a reasonable list... But corrections, suggestion are welcomed..

i will put mig29 behind jf-17 but thats my opinion..mig29 doesnt has fire by wire system and it lags behind the thunder in some avionics aspects
i will rate f-16 better than j-10b..its avionics are best of the best and it does has operational AESA..

And beside that you also still have some more Fighters under devolepment such as MRCA, Mitsubishi AD-X, Mikoyan LMFS, KF-X, TF-X. Also i think the Taiwanese AIDC Ching Kuo should belong on F16s Place.

F-4U Corsair - best carrier fighter, fought till the end of 1960-es.
A6M Zero - best Japanese fighter.

Top post WW2 fighters:

MiG-15 - most produced WW2 fighter, together with F-86 best of its generation.
Mirage III - best 2nd gen fighter.
F-4 Phantom - first, most produced and best 3rd gen fighter.
F-15 - first trully 4th gen fighter with excellent record.
F-16 - most produced 4th gen fighter with excellent combat record.
F-22 - first 5th gen fighter.

Most Upgraded Mig 29s feature.

1. New RD-33K afterburning bypass turbojets, providing 54.0 kN (5,500 kgp / 12,125 lbf) max dry thrust and 86.3 kN (8,800 kgp / 19,400 lbf) afterburning thrust each -- along with an "emergency" afterburning mode that could increase thrust to 92.2 kN (9,400 kgp / 20,725 lbf) on a redline basis for very short periods. The engines also featured greater reliability and simpler maintenance.

2. Redesigned LERXs, with the intake louvers on top eliminated and FOD protection provided by intake screens. In the time-honored Soviet tradition of "maskirovka (deception)", early MiG-29Ms apparently had louvers painted on the LERXs to camouflage the fact that they were new-model aircraft.

3. Removal of the louvers was part of a redesign of the internal fuel tank arrangement, which was enlarged to provide the MiG-29M with a third more range. The larger fuel tanks led to a reduction in size of the ammunition box for the 30 millimeter cannon from 149 to 100 rounds, but this was not felt to be much of a penalty, since the cannon had proven both accurate and hard-hitting in practice, and 100 rounds was felt to be plenty.

4. A fat spine along the lines of that of the Fulcrum-C, accommodating a chaff-flare dispenser system and eliminating the need for the strake chaff-flare dispensers.

5. Modified flight surfaces, with a distinctive small dogtooth between the LERX and the wing, and the top-bottom airbrakes replaced by a single enlarged ventral airbrake. The result was an aerodynamically cleaner and even more agile aircraft.

6. New airframe assemblies of lithium-aluminum alloy and composite materials to reduce weight, simplify manufacture, and increase the useful internal volume of the aircraft.

Unfortunately, despite the great expense of the lithium-aluminum alloy assemblies, they did not give the MiG-29M the hoped-for weight reductions. The MiG-29M was still significantly heavier than the Fulcrum-A, and so the landing gear was reinforced, while the single drag chute was replaced by twin drag chutes, released from a new "beavertail" fitting between the engine exhausts. Two side-by-side chutes were used instead of one big chute, since a larger chute would have dragged on the runway.

7. Improved IFF and active jammer systems, as well as an electronic FBW control system. The FBW system was based on analog electronics, probably because a fully digital system was a bit ahead of Soviet capabilities at the time, but the MiG bureau played up the simplicity, reliability, and resistance to electromagnetic interference of the analog system. The FBW system provided triple redundancy for roll and yaw control and quadruple redundancy for pitch control, while still allowing the pilot to "redline" the aircraft.

8. Modernized cockpit systems to reduce pilot workload. The cockpit included two monochrome CRT displays and much more capable HOTAS controls, and the pilot was given an improved helmet-mounted sight. The pilot's seat was raised to provide a better view, and as a result the canopy was distinctively bulged compared to earlier MiG-29s.

9. The new Phazotron "N-010 Zhuk-M" multimode radar system, with a flat slotted planar antenna instead of a dish antenna; about 25% greater range; much improved processing power and software; and several new modes, including terrain-following and new air-to-ground capabilities. The N-010 radar was fitted into a smaller, reprofiled nose radome.

The latest ones like the Mig-29K and the Mig-35 are even more advanced.
