The International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Government of Japan today agreed new dates for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad, in 2021.

The Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 will be celebrated from 23 July to 8 August 2021. They also agreed on new dates for the Paralympic Games, which will be celebrated from 24 August until 5 September 2021

I really enjoyed my 15 days in rio Olympics and now fully plan to go to Tokyo if the Olympics go forward .

Yup, it will still be held in Augustus. I dont think foreigner can visit Japan during the event, unless they have already completed vaccination program to whole of their citizen in July, but British and South African Covid strain spreading around the world may also make the ban will still be uphold even until the end of 2021.

You won't be able to go. Impossible for high-epidemic places with new strains running free.

Low contagious/contained places may have a limited chance.

On another note, if the games are not hold this year, too, it will be likely postponed to 2024. Beijing has winter olympics in 2022.

Indonesia so far can only be competitive in badminton and archery. There are some chances in Karate as well as it will be played in Tokyo

North Korea decides not to participate in Tokyo Olympics over coronavirus concerns

SEOUL, April 6 (Yonhap) -- North Korea said Tuesday it will not participate in the upcoming Tokyo Summer Olympics to protect its athletes against the coronavirus pandemic, dashing South Korea's hopes to use the games to kickstart the stalled peace process with Pyongyang.

The decision was made during a general assembly meeting of the North's Olympic Committee held in Pyongyang on March 25, according to Sports in the DPRK Korea, a website on sports affairs in North Korea.

"The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has decided not to participate in the 32nd Olympic Games during the general assembly to protect our athletes from the global health crisis situation related to the coronavirus as proposed by committee members," the website said.

Commentary

With the new COVID P1 and B117 variants, this Olympic Games will turn into a true genocide.

The most wise North Korean leadership that values human lives more than propaganda for national prestige has made the only human decision possible.

The IOC must cancel these Summer Games at once, as the Olympic Games are nothing short of a mass spreader, and before millions perish for no reason!
