Once all the heavy machinery for the power plants have reached the NER, thats job done. Sooner or later poor India will have enough money and will to improve the road and rail connectivity.

I was not aware of the fact that with 1000 MW power plant equipment all transit problem of India will be solved... Then india should ask for it bd would give free transit to transfer 1000 MW power plant equipments.. As far as I know NE India is already power surplus region..

You should calm down and then read posts. I understand the patriotism and all that, but getting hyper after reading anything that doesn't suit your POV doesn't help.

Power Generation in the North East will be a profit making project for India. Thats the priority right now. North East can survive for 5-10 more years with the sort of road and rail connectivity we have right now. After that India should be able to crank up the connectivity Assam onwards.

The transit through Bangladesh isn't a permanent solution for India, and Indian government is well aware of that. We are just making hay while the sun is shining.

I disagree. Gandhi is considered by many as Father of India just like some do about Mujib in BD.

Gandhi is being referred to as the Father of the Nation. But if that is so, he had failed his paternal duty inasmuch as he has acted very treacherously to the nation by his consenting to the partitioning of it. I stoutly maintain that Gandhi has failed in his duty. He has proved to be the Father of Pakistan. His inner-voice, his spiritual power and his doctrine of non-violence of which so much is made of, all crumbled before Jinnah’s iron will and proved to be powerless.

I think it is a win win situation. Both side will benefit.
Bangladesh needs money to develop, we need material in NE to develop.
And the Indian side will see whether it is cost effective, we dont need to bother about it.
For me any transaction, which makes both parties happy is better than no transaction at all.

$19/ton is not a lot for some cases. We'd obviously need to look at the final agreement before commenting, but generally these agreements are NOT done on per ton basis. Usually the criteria for tariff in Highways sector is number of axles of the vehicle.

However, an innovative idea like this may bring another Nobel Prize to an Indian citizen. Instead of thinking big and talking futuristic, would you please ask your govt not to beg a transit facility from Bangladesh? The transit should be limited on the Tripura power plant only, because it is a humanitarian project.

I suggest you go look at a map and then try being a smart alec. There is highway connectivity up to Guwahati and rail up till Tinsukia in Assam. So the issue is not about "chicken neck corridor". You only need about 500 m of land for a transit corridor, chicken neck is still 15 Km wide at its narrowest point.

Pay attention! Those rail lines actually exist and not proposed lines! They are very well inside the Indian border unless you want to say that Indian railways made tracks inside Bangladeshi territory The rail lines look straight, cause its a schematic map!
