Tipu Sultan’s stolen treasure, found in a UK family’s attic, to be auctioned

But you are part of the Arab world, no?
No, I am not part of the Arab world. If you have any doubts please check my other posts.

I am just being rational here. why not why do you think otherwise? If the direct descendant is not raising their claim, then why not Pakistan or Bangladesh as they were part of British India.

If you look at the Peacock Throne fiasco Pakistan has a better relationship with Turkey and has high chances to get that back from them. Do they want to do it is another question?

The items are beautiful, no doubt.

If India disowns him then Pakistan should get his treasure back, our PM also mentioned him in his speech during our conflict with India.

Can you point me to the source, please ??

Good to know many people consider themselves there to be part of the subcontinent. Except in case of the Lahore based Sikh Empire, I doubt Pak has claim to anything from present day India.

In all honesty, Pakistan has enough ground to ask for that. Even if the present day Mysore is part of India. Anything that was stolen in the subcontinent India, Pakistan and Bangladesh have enough ground to ask for its return.

How can Pakistan or Bangladesh exclusively claim these items ??

Surely Ind, Pak and BD can have an arrangement of a traveling museum of these and other common hereditary items.

India should demand it back!

Mughals are a shared legacy especially the "greater Mughals". Lahore was capital of the Empire during Akbar and Jehangirs reign. Jehangir is buried there. Shah Jahan is born there. Aurengzeb built the worlds largest mosque (at the time) there. Pakistan has a legitimate claim when it comes to Mughal heritage.

Salaam

The spoils were taken in a war, not stolen at night by theives or highway robbers. They belong to the victors who took them.

The British came and conquered this land, just like the central Asian Turks before and so many before them. That's how it has worked.

Modi and BJP have disowned Tipu Sultan, therefore these items rightfully belong to Pakistan. Tipu was a Punjabi Muslim ruler of Mysore.

He is much more important to us and our sense of self and national history than India’s.

We should cooperate with India to help each other get our important artifacts from Europeans.

I feel Karnataka should make a request, not India. I feel he will get more respect in Mysore than from the rightist Hindu-centric people in north India. He had his faults; he died fighting the British, bravely, right in front. All must be seen in that final act of bravery.

@SecularNationalist

I saw your #7 after writing the above.
It is so sad that so few Kannadigas take pride in him. Except for political celebration, hardly anybody except minorities remember this hero.

The Dancing Girl is still awaiting return after 60 years. Not in our part of the world.
