On topic: what is negative side of removing article 370 by Indian POV.

1)The Kashmirs would be back on earth and would stop flying in the hot air balloons any more.
2)The feeling of being supercilious would be thrown into the dustbin.
Other than Kashmiris no other Indian would be against abolishing 370. IMO!!

i was pointing toward the claim made by some poster before that " article 370 is the thing which binds Kashmir with India"

I take such statements as threats.
frankly I think Kashmir should be made independent if its ppl keep threatening us like this but then we need kashmir for our reasons which I have posted here.

Article 370 is more than what most Indians know about. While I am open to removal of the special status vis - vis autonomy and other stuff, some hill areas (like hills all over India) need some protection. The laws present in Himachal Pradesh for example should be fine - certain restriction on land ownership but no special status to JnK state and full integration with the Indian Union.

Kashmir is already integrated to Indian system by 1963 with whole union list applicable in Jammu and Kashmir.

Was removal of 370 on BJP's manifesto? Swamy talks about this on every other occasion but other than that haven't seen any strong intentions from NDA yet? Maybe they are waiting to bring back economic stability before taking on sensitive subjects

Hardly possible, Kashmir as an integral and inseparable part of India is intertwined in Indian psyche. so expect India isn't going to disown even an inch of land on negotiation table, let Pakistan crave for it till eternity who cares.

ufff you didnt read my post in that thread did you???

this is what i said when horus said kashmir should be made independent...we are clinging on to kashmir for the following reasons... fortunately and unfortunately kashmiris know this and demand for special status.

nope not possible...this wont work in India's favor.

1)Kashmir would soon become a breeding ground for terrorists.
1) Kashmir is 1/3rd the size of Afghanistan and bigger powers will play their game in Kashmir too.
3) With Punjab and Delhi near Kashmir, security threats to India's heart would increase.
4) Minorities in kashmir would be massacred once again like in afghan where once upon a time plenty of Buddhists and hindus lived.
5) India's connection to Indus would be under threat too and indus is the source of water to many North western states.Indus also helps in generating hydro power.
6)The state is landlocked and having hostile enemies all around will push the state into economic despair,trade and tourism would suffer.

In short we can NOT let kashmir become independent nor would the Indian Kashmiris want it that way for their own good,because with out India to bankroll the state would not be able to afford infrastructure projects.

and 67yrs later it has become a permanent fixture of our constitution.
Its high time we put drilled some sense into Kashmiris and stopped giving 'em special privileges.
They should be either completely Indian like the rest of us or should be left to fend for themselves in shark infested waters.
Artcle 370 should be given a fitting burial.

Totally agree with you, Kashmiris are very proudy type people, they think whole world wants them. They just creat nuisance and nothing else, if some of these people want to separate from India why they come begging Indian govt for aid in times of floods or earthquakes. Indian govt should strip these people of any special rights or privileges. How dare these people throw stones at our army personnels? If it werent indian army these people would not have been in existance to throw stones.

I respectfully disagree ........ revoking this article is a must .

A law where an Indian citizen cannot buy land in J&K , women of J&K losing their PR if married to an outsider , afaik even SC doesnot have jurisdiction over J&K ...... such a law does not have a place in India and should be revoked at the earliest .

Sir, I did not say that it should not be revoked. It hardly makes any difference today because by legislative interference we have already made it irrelevant.

Ban Article 370 and the idiots who made it possible. Thanks to Nehru and Congress again for your contributions to India again! Im tired of seeing Kashmirir being able to set up shop and invest anywhere in India yet me and my family cannot do the same in Kashmir? Is it fair when my family risks their lives everyday to defend the borders and India? Absolutely not...
