Tigris Shield Peace Operation Updates & Discussions

The problem is not Turkey bombing PKK, it's Erdogan and his expansionist dreams. It's the attempts of using MB ideology to spread in the region, these attempts were made in Egypt, Libya, Syria, Iraq etc which can be covered in detail. Libya is often overlooked. He will make use of anti PKK operations to also implement his expansionist dreams.

Do you think that non-Turks are dreaming of being ruled by nationalist Turks for that to happen? Let's look at northern Syria ruled by some Turkish enclave group, there are more Turkish flags than any flags that are supposed to represent the 'new Syria', they do the hand sign for the MHP bozkurt or whatever it is. Let's look at Somala, Somalian soldiers are singing Turkish nationalist songs. This may be good for you but it trashes their national fabric. If you are so keen on having Syria, Iraq etc. then give those 60+ million people Turkish passports, if not treat them as foreign states. You've got a leader that dresses up soldiers with Ottoman customes to feed his ego.

Erdogan like Assad, Saddam are more concerned with their own personal image than anything else. Blowing smoke up their a**ses all day, one calls himself the successor of Nebuchadnezzar, the other thinks he's Mehmet from the Ottoman era. All of them living in the past. There is no leader of the Muslim or Arab world and there won't be, we're not in that era anymore.

PKK? It's not relevant. They're just being used as an excuse, the biggest PKK problem is inside Turkish borders and their expansion into Syria and Iraq came as a result of American initiated/organized wars which Turkey contributed to. No one in Iraq will care if you bomb the PKK, infact most of us will be happy to see them leave Sinjar as we don't want Kurdish armed groups there. Erdogan is more concerned with the Ottoman legacy than economic and industrial growth, (yes I am aware that Turkey grew under his watch) but recently he's made some bad moves. The US support for the YPG is clearly due to the hostility with Turkey, it's not like this hostility didn't exist 3-4 years ago it has been brewing for years. Qatar is not able to stand against the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Egypt is not a little country to dictate and Iraq is slowly coming out of its crisis and grows in strength over the years, for Erdogan to try and trash them verbally he's not going to get far. Yet what does he do?
You're right!!!! The goal is to override the Treaty of Lausanne!!! Turkey is unstoppable now.....

Some news. Political situation, political battles between ruling government (Abadi) and the PMF. PMF issues certain orders, prime minister issues reversing orders. PMU top leadership relieved of his position. KRG wants to return to Kirkuk to take part in the new gov, Abadi says Kirkuk is not up for debate.

What were the orders?

What were the orders?

PMU deputy in command Al Muhandis issued orders to retreat PMU fighters from the north as part of a political game to win some parties backing them. Abadi reverses the orders citing security is not to be politicized. Few days later Abadi relieves highest PMU politician of his role. There is a 'soft war' ongoing on the political level between PMU and Iraqi gov with US and Iran backing the opposite sides. This won't break out in an actual war as the fighters on the ground aren't willing to fight each other, they fought alongside one another against IS and are basically the same people with the same religion. However the leaders have different views.

In short: PMU leader issued order to withdraw its fighters from the northern provinces in return for political backing of certain parties, Abadi blocks the order citing security and politics are separate. This is why i've earlier said there are issues with the PMU, they are heavily entrenched into politics and will be used for that rather than security. Hence earlier I said Iran is a negative influence whilst I was being attacked for being unthankful about some ammo boxes.

Maybe weeks, or months. The political system is failed and has to be changed, but it cannot be changed because those in parliament will not allow it to change as they would lose power. The only way to change is a coup that overthrows the system.

Some problems between ISF and YBS/PKK in Sinjar, YBS/PKK accuse Baghdad of cooperating/providing the information that led to the strike against their leader the day after Abadi visited Turkey.

They will have to obey anyway or they will get trashed, they stand no chance.

Clashes erupted on Sunday between the Iraqi Army and a Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) affiliate group in Shingal, but left no casualties.

Skirmishes broke out after Iraqi forces asked the PKK-affiliated YBS to remove a checkpoint near a village in western Shingal.

"The Iraqi army asked the YBS forces to remove a checkpoint," said Fahad Hamid, mayor of Shingal town, speaking of the Shingal Protection Units.

Hamid added the fight also erupted over "vehicles associated with the YBS which commute in the Iraqi army controlled areas and have no registrations or car plates."

The official said the fight in the Yezidi homeland lasted for an hour, but had no casualties.

There were attempts for a meeting between officials from both sides to resolve the issue, Hamid added.

After Turkish airstrikes in Shingal in August killed Zaki Shingali, a top PKK leader and Turkish national, relations between the Iraqi Army and the PKK have deteriorated.

Harbo Khidir, a PKK official in Shingal, has accused the Iraqi Army of providing intelligence to Turkey so they could target Zaki's convoy.

Turkish officials consider the PKK a threat to their border security and actively conduct strikes in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, as well as some areas of Syrian Kurdistan like Rojava.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi ordered foreign fighters in Shingal to leave earlier this year.

What was he expecting? That pkk can roam freely where ever they want?

The region is not doing well, there's too many factions all with armed groups wanting certain things.

Iraq is locked in a political system that doesn't work, thanks to Paul Bremer

Iraqi security forces handed over four PKK/KCK terrorists to Turkish officials after they escaped the terrorist organization and surrendered, the Interior Ministry said on Monday.

The statement said the terrorists were transferred to Turkey via the Habur crossing on Sunday.

Merdan Rustu Ovalıoğlu, codenamed “Leheng Dersi̇m” or “Adi̇l”, was among the four terrorists who turned themselves in.

Ovalıoğlu was in the grey category of the Interior Ministry's wanted list.
