LAHORE, Sept 9: Two former parliamentarians from Nankana Sahib, a central Punjab district, announced their decision of re-embracing the PML-Q in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Pervaiz Elahi here on Sunday.

Former MNA Shahid Manzoor Gill and former MPA Javed Manzoor Gill as well as ex-tehsil nazim Tahir Manzoor Gill regretted their mistake of abandoning the party for joining the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf and declared the 10 months they passed away from PML-Q as a ‘great torture’ for them. They thanked the Higher Power for giving them an opportunity to return to their ‘home’.

It seems the policy of joining the PPP-led ruling alliance adopted by the Chaudhries of Gujrat despite much criticism from within and outside the party, has started paying dividends as deserters have begun to return to its folds.

Party officials claim that more and more disgruntled ‘friends’ will return to the party before the general election as formal contacts with the ‘repentant’ leaders are complete and in the second stage Pervaiz Elahi is approaching them by phone.

Saying the tempo will not be broken, they point out that Col Ghulam Sarwar (retired), ex-MPA Shafiq Khan and some important political figures from Chakwal district are in an advance stage of contacts.

Asked what good the deserters saw in the PML-Q that they had begun to rejoin it, prime minister’s adviser Muhammad Basharat Raja argues that his party is the best destination for the friends who were runners-up while losing to the PML-N candidates in the previous polls.

He explains that while signing seat-adjustment formula with the ruling ally PPP, the party will demand the seats for these runners-up who will stand a good chance of winning the polls in a one-on-one contest.

Highlighting bright chances for the candidates in such a situation, he cites voting figures from the previous polls. According to him, Col Sarwar had lost with a margin of 22,000 votes in the last general election in which the PPP nominee had polled 38,000 ballots.

Another factor attracting the disgruntled leaders back, Raja says, is the fact that the Chaudhries always hold cordial relations with their political colleagues unlike the Sharifs who keep the parliamentarian and party cadre waiting for years before giving them audience.

“The comfort level (in relations with the leadership) given in the PML-Q does not exist in other parties.”

While in the PTI, he adds, people find that the tsunami lacks recognition, and subsequently support, among the rural population.

Each and every candidate does his/her calculations with the advent of election season — considering all the beneficial factors and chances he can hope for while remaining in a particular party.

“And when chances are that 30,000-plus PPP vote bank will be available in the contest by having a PML-Q ticket, one cannot ignore the aspect and will have to think several times before saying no to it.”

He admits ‘political chamak (glitter)’ has made some Q Leaguers abandon the party, who saw a landslide victory for a certain party but they soon realised the ‘isolation’ they had to face in the new grouping and they started their journey back to their ‘real home’.

I say this is GREAAAT NEWS for PTI and Pakistan. All these idiots, who change parties to remain in power, are being purged from PTI. It does not matter who and how many are leaving. PTI should become a symbol of love of Pakistani people and it will only happen if it only has die hard people from top to bottom.

. . .
Excellent, all the lotaz leaving. Good riddance!

.
Who will then bring in the illiterate voters? Since there are few left in PTI who deal as well with these people than Patwaris??

. .
how can you say they left PTI and went back when they were even not given ticket...

.
I think this was all pre planned to defame PTI. They are classic examples of people at the time of Prophet who would come to the Prophet and claim that they are muslims and with him but then they would go back to their Kafir masters and laugh it off! They are indeed truly lost and misguided people. Just a FYI, I am not really a supporter of PTI

comparing his holiness prophet muhammad pbuh to the bunch of rag tag politicians their agenda and the political party is an utter foolishness

imran said his party was for the youth of pakistan, now question is where is that youth??

somebody has rightly said that there are no short cuts for fame and prosperity, hard work is the only thing, lahore jalsa was inspiring OK, but imran sold his soul afterwards to the 2 paisa people and now his party is not worth a paisa

had imran stayed in his principles, gathered youth and elected them to the higher posts of the likes of SMQ, javed hashmi, it would have been inspiring but sadly imran sold his soul and faith to the devil

you cant form a party within months and claim to be the biggest party until you have a proper setup you worked for years to build on it, imran had no setup before and he just made it another PMLQ

he had basically two choices, either keep the old people who had worked so hard for PTI for long time and were genuine or the rag tag political support from PMLQ, opportunists, thus impure, now neither are the old people happy with imran's policies and nor the new people because they are oil and water, genuine people wont tolerate the imposters and opportunists and vice versa thus both with their egos will leave imran khan

felt truey sad when imran removed the genuine workers from the high posts and installed the newly joined political prostitutes in those posts thus insulting the very core of PTI
