In a significant development for India's diplomatic ties, three Islamic countries —Indonesia, UAE, and Bangladesh —attended the G20 tourism meeting held in Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir union territory.

This gathering marks the first international meeting in the union territory since the abrogation of Article 370 and the bifurcation of the erstwhile state into two union territories in August 2019.

Representing Bangladesh at the meeting was its High Commissioner Mustafizur Rahman, while the UAE sent two officials from its capital.

The presence of Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim-majority country and a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as well as the G20, was particularly noteworthy. All three countries are members of OIC.

The development highlights the strengthening ties between India and these three nations, as evidenced by a series of high-level visits and engagements between them.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Indonesia's Bali last year to attend the G20 meet. Bangladesh and India have been emphasising the "golden phase" of ties, and the relationship with the UAE has grown leaps and bounds—from economy to food security.

The G20 Srinagar meet provided an opportunity for the participants to discuss and exchange ideas on tourism and related sectors. This engagement can contribute to the growth and development of the tourism industry in the region and facilitate the sharing of best practices among countries.

However, it is worth noting that some G20 member countries and invited guests decided not to attend the meeting.

Three G20 member countries—China, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey—and two guests who were invited by India —Egypt, and Oman—were among those who did not send their delegations. Though there were some unofficial representations from Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

Pakistan in a statement welcomed this decision, reflecting the complex regional dynamics at play.

Big boost to tourism in Kashmir after abrogation of Article 370; record 26 lakh tourists visited valley in 2022

A record 26 lakh tourists visited the Kashmir valley last year.

This was officially stated, and the source pointed out that the central Government has always maintained that the revocation of Article 370 of the Constitution in August 2019 has helped Jammu & Kashmir to witness a huge change with the resumption of tourism and also a massive decline in terror activities.

By February 2023, for the first time in the history of Jammu & Kashmir, a record 1.88 crore tourists visited the union territory in 2022.

Union Minister of State in PMO, Jitendra Singh, said enormous avenues of opportunity had been unfolded by PM Modi across the country and “this is the message and the perception to be carried from here.”

Around 122 delegates, including 60 foreigners, arrived in Srinagar for the third G20 tourism working group meeting on May 22.

By February 2023, for the first time in the history of Jammu & Kashmir, a record 1.88 crore tourists visited the union territory in 2022.

"The G20 event will falsify all the false narratives created by vested interests or by cynics or self-styled critics. The event is a moment of rejuvenation and reincarnation. This is just returning to the Shammi Kapoor- era, who shot most films here. Kashmir is a cost-effective place with a variety of locations,” Jitendra Singh said.

Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Apurva Chandra, told All India Radio that the Ministry is providing incentives to foreign filmmakers with the objective of making India a favourite destination. He expressed the hope that more filmmakers will visit Kashmir to shoot their films.

Official sources have stated that if the UT of Jammu & Kashmir is prominently featured in a feature film with more than 75 per cent shooting days in the UT, then the tourism sector of the UT gets the direct benefit.

Such a film shall be given an additional subsidy of Rs. 50 lakh, which shall be decided by the JKFDC on a case-to-case basis.

The first three-day significant international event’ is being held in Jammu & Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 four years back. The three-day G20 mega event from May 22-24, is focusing on five key priority areas: Green Tourism, Digitalization, Skills, MSMEs and Destination Management.

Officials say Srinagar is “decked up well” for hosting the prestigious third Tourism Working Group Meeting of G20 members. Representatives from Spain, Singapore, and Mauritius are discussing film tourism in the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir.

Spain, Singapore, Mauritius, Nigeria, South Africa, Brazil and India are among seven countries to discuss the global perspective of film tourism, as well as its economic benefits and impact in Jammu & Kashmir.

The event’ Film Tourism for Economic Growth and Cultural Preservation’ is part of the mega third Tourism Working Group Meeting.

"There cannot be a better place than Kashmir for shooting movies. The Centre go out of our way in providing assistance in shooting movies and shoot locations and help to shift film destination from any other part to Kashmir,” G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant said.

Singapore’s High Commissioner to India, Simon Wong, has praised the beauty of Kashmir and said that he is “very happy” to be in Srinagar. Taking to his official Twitter handle, Simon Wong said, “Very happy to be in Srinagar. Pure beauty. Thank you so much for your warm welcome. HC Wong.”

According to noted actor K Ram Charan of ‘RRR’ fame, Jammu & Kashmir remains an “untapped” location.

It’s magical to see Kashmir because it’s absolutely magnificent, he said, addressing the ‘Film Tourism for Economic and Cultural Preservation’ event.

Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy has said that the Centre will soon declare a National Tourism Policy and is also planning a Global Tourism Investment Summit.

The Government is also planning to host the Global Tourism Investment Summit.

G Kishan said while tourism in Jammu & Kashmir is growing, “Today we are running the 74-160 flights up to Leh. Also, the weekly flight tally for Srinagar has gone up to 532 flights since the end of last year. This year we are expecting a double tourist number, including both foreign and domestic.”

He also said, “I hope that India will become a world tourist destination in the coming years. We are also working with all the State Governments on different schemes and policies.”

"Films have great potential to attract tourists from across the globe. It helps in boosting many other sectors like hospitality, transportation, etc. Film tourism is also about ensuring cultural preservation, promotion of talent and boosting the economy of the region,” G Kishan said.

I'd consider only UAE as Islamic country. Other two are secular countries. Other than Aceh province, Indonesia is much more secular than India in my experience.

Side line meeting, not really important meeting. No G20 leaders will come there.

G20 Summit 2023 will be hosted in Delhi

New Delhi to host 2023 G20 Leaders' Summit next September

Where are the locals🤣😂😂🤣🤣

The local Kashmiri population is under lockdown, they hate hindus inside Kashmir

As communal tensions rise across India, their will never be space for Hindus in Kashmir

NO SECULAR COUNTRY RUN ISLAMIC STATE UNIVERSITIES AND STATE OWNED MADRASAH

State Islamic Religious College (PTKIN) is a university in Indonesia whose management is under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Technically academic, the development of state Islamic religious universities is carried out by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemdikbud), while functionally carried out by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Currently, State Islamic Religious Universities consist of 3 types:

Here is the list of STAIN in Indonesia:

Madrasah aliah[note 1] (abbreviated MA) is a secondary level of education in formal education in Indonesia which is equivalent to high school. Its management is carried out by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The class level in madrasah aliyah is the same as high school.

In the second year (grade 11), MA students choose one of 4 majors, namelyː Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Islamic Religious Sciences, and Languages. At the end of the third year (grade 12), students are required to take the National Examination. Like SMA, MA is divided into two, namely, general MA which is often called MA and vocational MA.

Basically, the MA curriculum is the same as the high school curriculum, it's just that the MA has more portions of Islamic religious education. The following subjects are taught in the MA in addition to general subjects:

Senior High School/MA is not included in the government's compulsory education program, as are students of elementary school (or equivalent) 6 years and junior high school (or equivalent) 3 years.

In Indonesia, ownership of madrasah aliyah is held by two entities, namely private and government (state madrasah aliyah) through the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

I’ll stick to mainstream press thanks .

Disputed territory... ie not a part of India .

Meeting held by India in KASHMIR .
World is not fooled .

Türkiye's Keşmir policy is basically shaped by Islamabad. Goes to show you how much influence Pakistan still have.

Your argumentation doesn't add up.

If it wasn't an important meeting in the first place, why go there and take part in this charade? India purposefully chose the location to push its anti-Pakistan agenda.

Clearly, this was an lousy attempt by the Modi government to legitimise brutal Indian occupation of Keşmir.

For Pakistan, this issue is a conditio sine qua non in her international relationships. How would you like it if the government of Pakistan would support Papua New Guinea's claims against Indonesia?

Sorry but Indonesia needs to apologise.

India should get into OIC (given the Muslim population here) and then host an OIC meet in Srinagar.

I think OIC should be abolished. Nikamma organization.

What credibility does Pakistan have on this matter when they have turned Pakistan into an occupied country?

If India were to let Kashmir go for the sake of argument, I believe Kashmiris would refuse to join Pakistan given the present situation. Instead, they would opt for an independent Azad nation.
