NEW DELHI: Thousands of people on Sunday marched through several Indian cities to protest government corruption and demand an effective anti-graft law, the Hindustan Times reported.

Waving banners that read 'Corruption: Enough is enough' and 'Common people are raped in government offices,' protesters gathered in rallies in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and other cities.

The rallies, which coincided with the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, was part of the 'India against Corruption' social movement that is demanding the passage of the Lokpal Bill. The legislation seeks to create an independent, empowered, transparent and accountable anti-corruption agency.

"The Lokpal bill prepared by the public is so effective that it will eradicate corruption in next two-three years. Political parties should support the passage of this bill as the Lokpal suggested by the government is only a showpiece," eminent lawyer Shanti Bhushan said while addressing the rally in New Delhi.

The government wants to make Lokpal an advisory body, which will only recommend to the government to prosecute its corrupt ministers.

Public anger has grown across India after a series of high-profile scandals, including the cut-price sale of mobile phone licenses and allegations of widespread corruption related to the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Hey metro, how good is this Baba Ramdev? Why do you recommend him?
- Thanks

Hi brother.
This baba is actually a yogi. He has spent his whole life in teaching yoga to masses.
Recently he started his movement called- Bharat Swabhiman Andolan.
It is a revolution where we are uniting the masses of this country against the evil and foolish policies of our government.
Im myself a part of this revolution.
we are getting a huge support from allover the country.

The recent cases of supreme court bashing govt. for black money is all becoz of the impact of this andolan.
Our prime motives here at Bharat Swabhiman Andolan. Are-
1.To get all our black money back, black money that goes upto 400 lac crores.
2. Introduce death sentence for corruption and rapes.
3. Change the whole Indian system, that was establish by Britishers, and convert it fully into an Indian System.

Our first goal is to reach all the villages n districts of India till 2012.
Second goal is to make a govt. at center in 2014.
Third goal is to make India worlds strongest economic and spiritual superpower till 2020.
I kknow its too early to say this, but im sure this will happen.
We all would see it happening.

And I want everyone to support us in this cause.

But a favorite statistic used by your media is that there are 10000 protests in China every year, and your media said it was evidence that China was unstable and would collapse with a tiny push.

.
really !!!

can u plz post an example..where a major indian newspaper or any think-tank says tat ''China is Unstable and would collapse with a tiny push"..

It is indeed a good omen.
protesting against corruption is a sign that it is no longer tolerated. And a better system is coming in.. even the few who are protesting, are effected by corruption some way or the other. No more a government official can ask for "sweeteners"..
There is already the safest village in the world in India.
Safest city?? perhaps?

Instead of bickering over which govt is better than the other, we should help ourselves in growing our nations.

My country is in utter economic mess. In the world stature it doesn't figure anywhere apart from jehadi attacks etc.

I would rather ask my countrymen and chinese bretherns to help us economically than pitch the armed forces against India. I m sure Indians are in no mood to attack us even remotely.

The reason is simple ... my country is in a jelly state and any further misadventure by any country would only collapse us into another Afghanistan.

Communism ... Democracy ... who gives a !!! ... as long someone provides assistance to rebuild my homeland.
