This Turkish-Made Marine Assault Vehicle Looks To Become a Force Abroad

Nextech takes a closer look at Turkish-made Marine Assault Vehicles (MAV), a project manufactured by one of the country's leading defence companies, FNSS Defence Systems. The MAV, also named ZAHA, is the latest armored amphibious assault vehicle that provides the Turkish navy with significant advantages between both the land and shore. Very few countries have the capacity to carry the dual-natured vehicle in their inventory.

shows the Turkish ambition

very easily they could have bought from abroad off the shelve units from US too

however they decided to build their own and even the scope of the project in terms of numbers is low and maybe didnt even justify the R & D cost

however seems like Turkey has a ban on import off the shelves systems which is very good

By the way BAE Systems Inc owns 49% of FNSS, the company that manufactures this AAV. Having a company like BAE Systems as your backer helps greatly in R&D.

Told you so. Turkey is now in a league of its own and producing high tech stuff. It has definitely overtaken Pakistan in certain areas.

In fact, the most important aspect of foreign cooperation has been the integration of these companies into international supply networks. You can see this clearly, especially in the field of aviation, business models are different in land systems. To this end, the machine parks in Turkiye have reached the same standard as the production standards in the USA, and the system and integration engineering standards have advanced to this level. This was not very visible for many years, because there was a huge difference in scale and volume, and the beginnings of end-system indigenization activities in TR started to gain strength in the 2000s. But this accumulation has enabled these companies today to create a large number of indigenous projects with their own resources without creating additional burden on the Ministry of Defense, as well as contributing to the realization of state-of-the-art export standards for all types of indigenous or licensed exports.
