1. Beijing and Shanghai is still not on par with cities like New York and Tokyo. There is a long long way to catch up and it can take at least one generation.

2. The development in Beijing significantly improved the life quality of many local people in Beijing, but as a city of 20 million people, a lot of them are hoping something even better, e.g. as of today, 10 million residence there still can not go to work by metro, they have to travel by bus.

3. Compared with the development in Shanghai and Shenzhen, Beijing is moving pretty slow.

I've heard some people removed the tomb 50 years ago, Western media said it was Heritage.
