What's new

This happened in Helmand Afghanistan and you wont beleive it.

During the 65 war, Indians use to report that they saw men fighting along side PA but no one knew who they were or which unit they belong too. What i was told by my elders was that they were mostly in green. Retired Troll can shed some more light.
Green what? in green colour Shalwar Kameez or were the people had odd green colour?

Now that you have asked, i never inquired whether they were wearing something green or actually were green. As i mentioned in my earlier post that this was narrated to me by my mother when i was kid as my grandfather was in the army at the time. Cannot validate or authenticate it.

No first Hand Information available.

Although later on captured soldiers afterwards did Report that the Indian ranks were fear stricken when Radio Reports would be broadcasted from behind enemy lines saying

There were no known reports by Indian soldiers. On the other hand, the story ran around in Lahore circles that men on white horses wielding sabres were seen riding along the Pakistani lines and creating panic among the Indian formations. The colour of these men's apparel does not appear to have been recorded.

@jhungary

You fought in Afghanistan, right? Do you believe this land is cursed or something on these lines? Please share your views.

Afghanistan is apparently a messed-up place; this much is clear to me.

I don't personally believe in ghost or curse or voodoo or stuff like that, nor was I a very easily spooked person. But then I got to say Afghanistan is a spooky place and a lot of stuff happened in Afghan does not really make sense to me.

Many people believe that the ghost (or spirit) of afghan did exist and coming from all the people that were killed since war with Alexander the Great (or maybe even earlier), that doom all invading force in Afghanistan. But I will have to say, while I have not seen anything myself, that place really do have bad juju. And I am not talking about bad luck.

Don't forget, I have my career ending injury in Afghanistan, and they say they scanned the hill top 3 times and found no one, Taliban don't just appear out of nowhere and ambush us, you know, that place, it did give me bad vibe.

Lot of tales and rumors were there, so cant really comment but there was no mention about wielding sabres and white horses.

Your story remind me of one that I heard from a Ukrainian friend.

That was way after I got out of the Army, but the Ukrainian Colonel told me during his time in Afghan, there was one of the hill/cave that no one was there for more than 30 years, but once upon a while, radio chatter in Ukrainian would place a distress call to their HQ and request assistance at that location, and everytime ISAF receive these call, they send people to investigate, and nothing and no one were there, but local keep seeing people in green uniform (Russian wear green uniform in Afghanistan back in 1980s) walking around the hill/cave area and talking to themselves and playing.

My friend believe they were soviet troop with Ukrainian descent who were kill there during the Soviet war in Afghanistan, which to me, was just spooky.

So one can assume that their is truth to these stories somewhere even if not completely.

They operated without cover
They worse White Colour, ie White Shalwar Kameez soldiers and used to charge straight at the enemy fire far too fast without bothering of being killed, their movement made Indians dumbfounded?

Am i understanding it correctly?

Well, at the end of the day, those are just story, and we should take it in with a grain of salt, when you ask the story teller were he/she there, they always say they hear it from someone else, and that goes a long way, but still, that's ALOT of story like this in Afghan. I mean more than you will ever believe.

Will there be truth behind them? That's up to the individual who hear those story from someone.
