Think tank calculates GDP growth at 3.1%

Textile is the core of our economy........it suffered due to drop in cotton crop.........
The biggest looser in this case is crop farmer.......
Agreed with you sir......

Why is cotton production falling in Pakistan? The irrigation is not good?

you know how farmers in India are commuting suicide ? just like that the price hike is so much.

Farmer suicide rates in India are well below the overall suicide rate in India.

They are about 11% of all total suicide cases but are about 50% - 60% or so of the total population.

Don't let the leftist media fool you, they never look at the actual evidence. The much larger problem is farming productivity and distress caused by drought/lack of efficient irrigation/lack of access to bank credit and markets....but these are being tackled by the current govt way better than the last one.

Sorry but the suffering of textile sector and not actually related to the cotton crop this time around. The truth is the cotton yarn prices are at ridiculously low level and not high. The spinning industry is what suffered the most with millions of spindles closing down. It is business and the ups and downs are part of the game. What is troubling is that it is on a downward trend for around months now and the slide do not seem to be stopping even now. This is the longest depression in what people can remember as far as textile industry is concerned. The even more alarming news is that while the industrialist have tried to stay on there feet through this time, they are fast losing hope and it can be seen as many textile business owners spending in real estate taken money our of the textile business. This may well lead to the destruction of our largest exports industry.

Yeh Ishaq Dar n in ke baatain!! :disagree:

The Crop dropped but the weather was not the only factor. Secondly the suffering of the Textile industry have NOTHING to do with cotton crop problems since as i told you, the yarn prices are at a low level. If the problem was because of cotton crop the issue would have been very high prices of yarn resulting in drop of exports. It is the other way around, the yarn is dirt cheap when you compare the rates to what we were paying four five years ago.
