I feel like we are heading to a scenario that will largely resemble post-withdrawal Afghanistan in the 90s but much much worse

They will get back to selling Hashish ... killing and drugs that are only two things Afghans are good for .

Well in 90's there were many groups however this time its only taliban. ISIS is just an artificial group being bred by NDS and others

Things are heating up. Aid reduction, ISIS attack, catching of head of attack on Gurdwara in extraordinary speed who happens to be ex-TTP and a Pakistani citizen, Taliban's warning about fallout in US-Taliban deal, Ghani's refusal on prisoner swap and another warning by US to Afghan Government all in a span of 2 weeks.

1b$ represent 25% of budget ..so they are goig to have to slim down there general police army size..all of those people will join the opposite side

What do you reckon, PM Imran Khan going to try and amalgamate Pakistan-Aghanistan in some way?

It has been desired for a long time on Pakistani side (in some quarters at least, me included) and now that Pakistan has a democratically elected Pukhtoon Prime Minister, could he use his influence over the Pukhtun population of Afghanistan and try and create a unified Af-Pak Federation?

I don't know how Pukhtoons in Afghanistan feel about PM Imran Khan.

No, not possible especially with our economic conditions within the foreseeable future. Too much interference from outside.

Head was ex-TTP and Pakistani. Its remarkable how easy and quickly this took place.

I am a pashtun and am telling u that is a horrible idea. We are better with a border between us. We pashtuns of Pakistan have historically lived but also fought with Afghanistan pashtuns.
A famous saying by yousafzai malak at time of partition when asked why join Pakistan and not Afghanistan, he said we have lived thousand years with kabulis, qandaharis and we know well how they have betrayed us times and again, so better we choose this new country, punjabis and sindhis would be better than them.
My point, we dont want to get into a messy country ravaged by decades of war and hostile fractured population just for land. We have enough of our own land. We dont want a mess to merge in this country.

Post COVID-19 world. Nobody will pay a dime to Afghanistan.
i tend to agree..seems USA will withdraw quickly and nobody will care
we are looking at great depression about 20% decrease in USA economy

Your opinion is from the Pakistani side, fair enough. The Strategic Depth has taken its toll on many on the Pakistani side and like you many Pakistanis in general may just want to avoid Afghanistan altogether.

But how do Afghans feel about it? Why do Afghan nationalists still want half of Pakistan but Pakistanis don't even want to invade and annex even 10 inches of Afghanistan?

Surely, Pakistan can't self-isolate itself against Afghanistan for too long and once the invaders are gone, another round of Strategic Depth could be in the offing, again?

I say this because I've not understood why PM Imran Khan has given citizenship to a million Afghans born in Pakistan. He could've just returned them to their motherland Afghanistan but he chose to do this instead. Surely, there must be some strategic thinking about this.

Can I ask, what's the difference between Pashtun and Pakhtun?
