‘They don’t have power to negotiate!’ Trump cancels talks with Taliban after attack kills US soldier

The blast in Kabul that killed a dozen of people, including a US soldier, has proven that there is no point in negotiating with the Taliban militants who can’t even uphold a ceasefire during important talks, President Trump said.

“If they cannot agree to a ceasefire during these very important peace talks, and would even kill 12 innocent people, then they probably don’t have the power to negotiate a meaningful agreement anyway,” Trump said in a tweet, announcing his decision to call off peace negotiations and cancel the meeting with the Taliban leaders headed for the US.

It's interesting because what are going to be the next steps for US, are they going start deploying more troops or is Donal Trump going to end the war in one week... presumably killing everyone in Afghanistan...

Also it's safe to say now that F16 are surely not coming to Pak anymore....

Also possible ,,, news came out that Pompeo was not ready (willing) to sign peace deal …….. He is CIA and CIA is against peace deal ………… For very clear and obvious reasons …

Same happened with Kim Trump talks. US called off talks for few months and than again re-engagement with Kim. For now, it appears that there is indeed some distrust among US officials themselves and Trump is probably suspending the talks temporarily to sort out the issue in his team. Pompeo indeed has been kept out from Afghanistan talks as Khalizad alone seems to run the show. Perhaps Pompeo felt missed out and needs attention.

in the real world Pompeo is stronger than the current President, hence the President will do as advised (means as told)

Talibans visiting camp David would had been a huge event.... Set back for talibans as well. But I guess talks will be restarted again.
