I am not justifying anything, only describing reality. Japan attacked first. Japan was destroyed in defeat by a more powerful USA, atom bombs or no atom bombs.

Destroying a major naval base with hundreds of deaths as an unprovoked pre-emptive attack is hardly a "first bullet". Economic boycotts and sanctions are peaceful ways of conducting international policy. Bombing is not. It will get a response according to the resources of the one attacked.

Not necessary, nukes are always overkill. All is not fair in war, especially when one party claims to be god of human rights and considers the other primitive, so what you're saying is the allies were just as 'evil' as the axis?
Because whatever crime the Japanese committed, after the nukes no one's gonna sympathise with US. And this has nothing to do with us and the british occupation, most of the world outside Pakistan as well doesn't have a good opinion of this.

I have no doubt that the invasion of Japan would have cost far more lives.
Overkill? I think not. The deaths of people are still the same regardless of whether they came at the hands of big bombs or small bombs.
The atom bomb had to demonstrate to the world what it could do, just once was enough.
