The US, China and...India

Despite our colourful history with the Chinese, like the most Vietnamese I don´t hate China and its people. I am far from being naive and innocent. I just dislike such an article which appears coming fresh from a propaganda press. The US is not perfect, but is ruled by democracy, free press and division of powers. And definitely we are NOT going to kiss uncle Sam´s @ss.

Well, and all I can say is China is ruled by a small group of men who responsible for the fate of China and many other countries in the region. Yes, peace and prosperity lie in their hand. Nearly no control by other.

If China really wants peace and not war, then resolve the SCS dispute with your neighbors! That is most urgent issue today. At the next ASEAN summit, China can show the world your peaceful intention by accepting international moderators and working on a new Code of Conduct. I got problem to understand why China continues insisting on bilateral approach, however we all know that that has not helped us much since years, moreover the tension is rising steadily. Vietnam officially declares to seak a peaceful solution. How about China?

Why Vietnam was constantly at wars in the past millenniums? China, Mongolia, America, France, Great Briton, Japan, and many other came to us without invitation. We are not stupid to look for trouble, especially with China. Pls do not mix up right and wrong!

1) I have to admit in real life Vietnamese are pragmatic and friendlier toward the Chinese but the danger lies in the forumers here and elsewhere because you guys are perceived as intellectuals and the next ruling class. Aside from the divisions of power there's nothing democratic about the US these days.

2) Nothing wrong about ruling by a bunch of capable meritocrats who are selected by similar but larger group of educated men.

3) Wasn't it her intention to solve the disputes peacefully in the first place. If you have followed the events closely in the past few months you know every move China made was the results of being push by others. China doesn't trust or put her fate on the rules where she has no inputs.

4) A small nation always pushes around by bigger nations and many ceased to exist through out history because they didn't handle them properly. There are no good excuses but the sad true of human nature and the burdens of survivals are on the smaller nations.

@ahfatzia: your posts are tripled!

1)
May I ask you whether you are Chinese?
That´s true. I can say the same to the majority of Chinese, in real life they appear being friendlier to the Viets, but not all of them. I wonder here in the forum, yes a lot and very often many Chinese are very hostile to us. They are so happy to see us in the dust, they feel lucky to see us as poor and backward. So I just thought so in reality they think so about us. If so, I am not surprised.

2)
well, if this elite acts well, everybody is happy. If not, pray to God.

3)
I think there are some reasons why China has responded carefully in the recent past: one in decade change in leadership, involvement of the U.S., dispute with Japan, slowdown in economy. I may be wrong.

4)
bulding a strong defence, seeking alliance, closer economic ties with your "enemy" are good strategy

You should never assume that the internet represents the view of the majority of the people in the world. Every single political topic posted anywhere descends into a frothing mess by the end.
