The United States wants the people of Bangladesh to elect their leaders freely

Neither BD has discovered oil nor it needs vaderes to rule over the people. It needs an expanded textile market to earn a living and needs a democratic system to flourish.

Since the governing BAL vaderes are too strong an anti-democratic force, therefore, external pressure from the Western powers is needed to re-establish democracy.

America and others are supporting the efforts of re-democratization. BD people certainly do not want another North Korea here.

North Korea is a welfare-based society that the Western societies are not and the South Asian societies are not. The Anglo style of democracy with multiple political parties, elections and votes is not democracy but a fraud against democracy. Your view of Western societies having democracy is an illusion. Please read this post of mine on what is Democracy, what is not, the origin of democracy and where was it first implemented in the modern world.

That is my understanding too. However, I believe the US won't be successful in a regime change in BD. It's not impossible but it's highly unlikely.
they wioll try to weaken bangladesh economically and than force a rebellion against hassina!

Won't work. It's not about Hasina's ability to hold on to power.

India won't let that happen. They have an interest in not allowing US influence or a military base in BD. US will also not displease India in this regard, even if they want to they don't have enough ability to do so in BD. The paradigm is not the same as Pakistan, it's different here.

@UKBengali What is your understanding?

@jamahir

North Korea is a welfare-based society

There is a saying among us Bongs (I am sure some BD folks here may have heard of it too) that all women love Khudiram Bose but no one wants her son to be one. So I would believe that NoKo is a welfare based society when I see the Jamahirs of the world make a beeline for NoKo and Cuba.

Regards

Totally ignore this idiot. He doesn't even believe in communism, he believes in a specific flavor, the Libyan one under Gaddafi.

I suggest you Google US elections.

Democracy is further stifled by their Supreme Court striking down laws its white members don’t like.

Trump supporters invaded and ransacked their “capitol” because Trump lost the election.

Threatening to hang their VP hahaha
You better live in your ignorant world and stop teaching others. People without political affiliations know better than those who are blinded by their party affiliations. There is no substitute to democracy. The days of autocracy have long gone.

Anyway, ask Hasina Bibi to impose sanctions on America.

It weren't Socialist / Communist NoKo and Cuba that suffered 4+ million deaths because of COVID. :)

Never underestimate America’s ability for regime change.

America usually does this by bribing over ambitious military officers.

At least in BD, they cannot sow ethnic hatred. But they can unleash the Wahhabis! USA is still sore because Hasina hung all the Jamatis.

If Hasina is overthrown before 2030 - say goodbye to BD ever leaving LDC let alone getting to mid income!!!!

Whenever you get cornered in an argument - you lash out.

Is this old age?
Or always been like that?

Socially and socio-economically Libyan Jamahiriya was Socialist but politically it was a true Communist system with direct democracy - Libyans able to have their say in matters whether at neighborhood level or city level or at national level or beyond. In this post I write of what is Democracy, what is not and its origins in Greece and a quote from an article about some of the practice of democracy in Libya. The Libyan political system was the true realization of the "People's governance" aspect of Communism and it was adapted to Venezuela by Muammar's comrade Hugo Chavez and is being implemented there now.

If BD had free elections, then Jamaat Islami or a similar radical Islamist party would likely be voted in. It's a lose-lose situation, most of the country is radicalized

If BD has free elections Jamatis will only get the votes of their wives and grandmothers. Don't talk about things you have no knowledge of. Jamat and other Islamic parties have no chance in BD.

But it's the first best option if compared with China.

Yes it is, but they won't get it. I am pretty sure about that.
