Robert (Bob) Harward, CEO of the American company "Lockheed Martin" in the Middle East, said that his company invests millions of dirhams annually to train Emirati youth in its center for innovation and security solutions in Masdar City in Abu Dhabi, noting that the company continues to expand its training program to accommodate the numbers The growing number of Emirati cadres interested in joining the aerospace and defense industry.

In statements to Al Bayan, Harward added that the Lockheed Martin Center for Innovation and Security Solutions has organized several training programs since 2017, in addition to implementing a series of technological development programs and training more than 100 engineers and technicians in the sector. In the coming years, we hope that this number will rise to thousands with the help of our partners such as "Tawazun", "Edge" and "Mubadala" in order to meet the needs of the UAE aerospace and defense sector.

He explained that the company's strategy to train and guide Emirati students and young Emirati engineers focuses on developing young Emirati engineers and scientists who are able to be an essential element in the future of the aviation and defense sector in the country, pointing out that there are some challenges represented in the ability to train the increasing numbers of Emirati talents quickly enough.

He continued: To address this issue, we have obtained support from leaders in “Tawazun”, “Edge” and “Mubadala”, who believe in the value of what we offer and help expand and intensify our training efforts, and these institutions select qualified candidates to join training programs with the aim that they can be able to Develop themselves through on-the-job training, in order to eventually replace the American engineers currently working on Lockheed Martin projects in the UAE.

Harward said that Lockheed Martin is looking towards the future, in terms of technology, business practices and strategic prospects in the UAE, with which we have a long-term partnership spanning more than four decades, and we continue to expand this relationship in order to find new ways to support the capabilities of the armed forces in the UAE. . He continued, "Over the past years, we have moved from just supplying defense systems to partnering with the UAE government on projects related to advanced technology, knowledge transfer, and training of young Emirati engineers."

He explained that "Lockheed Martin" invests heavily in the UAE, not only on the financial level, but also in terms of intellectual property and human capital development initiatives, and we had a huge addition in the UAE through the transfer of knowledge and technology, and assistance in developing the capabilities and skills of the UAE in the field of maintenance. Repair and overhaul.

On the great development that the UAE has witnessed in the field of aircraft manufacturing through Strata, Harward said that Lockheed Martin has been a firm supporter of the aviation and defense sector in the UAE since the beginning, and we are proud of the sector's remarkable progress in a relatively short period. The sector is expected to continue its growth in the coming years.

He added: We have partnered with Strata since its inception, and we have a close working relationship with the company’s leaders, and the focus on training and developing national capabilities has been our goal from the beginning. In 2010, “Lockheed Martin” and the UAE University established a program to develop the knowledge base and skill set of Emirati technicians. Youth in Strata through live interactive training. We are proud to see the fruits of this programme.

He said that the company has partnership agreements with institutions in the UAE, where it signed during the last IDEX exhibition an agreement with the EDGE Group to explore industrial partnership opportunities in the aviation and defense sector in the UAE, and under the terms of the agreement, we established joint working groups to identify and develop knowledge transfer and industrialization programs relevant Link to building local capacities, creating innovative and emerging technologies, and continuing expansion of human capital development initiatives.

In addition, we signed an agreement with Khalifa University of Science and Technology late last year to collaborate on research and academic initiatives aimed at promoting technological development in the UAE. We are currently studying opportunities for collaboration, led by the university's faculty, in areas as diverse as machine intelligence, autonomy, microelectronics, thermal and structural materials, and aerospace research. The outputs will enhance the aviation and local defense sector in the UAE. He explained that there are many important partnership agreements that are currently in the final stages of discussion, and we look forward to announcing them this year.

On the UAE national strategy for industry and advanced technology “the 300 billion project” and its impact on the aviation and military industries sector, he said: The UAE has always been at the forefront of innovation, thanks to its leaders who have insightful vision and are aware of the opportunities available and move to benefit from them in a coordinated and strategic manner, especially since the leadership of the UAE Al-Rasheeda is not limited to the old traditional ways of thinking. Rather, it is always looking towards the future and is ready to take bold and deliberate steps to achieve progress for the country, and this is what helps progress and excellence.

He added: The 300 billion project is another example of the thinking adopted by the state with the aim of creating opportunities that contribute to diversifying the economy. This initiative will help develop the industrial base of the UAE and generate local added value.

Are the UAE able to build a watch ? I've had UAE engineering students here in the US. Not the brightest, I must say.

You are that obsessed guy from defence-hub bumping up years old articles on GCC UAE, KSA Qatar, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia etc etc.. Get a life

So in the end Brits are going to be the administrators and top engineers with the South Asians filling the bottom end !

Their research are carried by foreigners ,mostly Chinese.

In my town in the UK Emirates and Saudis come to learn English. Some even bring their sports cars and monster trucks with them. They only speak in Arabic. Poor students generally and focus is never on studying but getting the certificate so daddy will be happy. When you drive a ferrari to college why bother to study.

Brits? I haven't seen any british tech developers for awhile they just don't produce these anymore this is not the 1800s and very few top british scientists out there these days and rare sight.

But okay.. I will happily burst your bubble and show you something since most peasants around this area aren't really familiar with the defense sector.. UAE deploys alot of locals including Emiriti women who are building missiles and rocket engines.. You didn't know this? Ofcourse you don't because you are not familiar with the defense sector and what is initially going on in the companies and workers etc etc..

Now take a look at this.. This technology nobody has it in the world except the UAE and this is a revolutionary technology build entirely by a local in UAE..

Dubai tech firm develops magnetic shield to counter drone attacks

usp Technologies has developed a new system to repel hostile drone attacks

--_176c78c9ece_large.jpg

Dubai: Cusp Technologies, a Dubai-based tech solutions company, has developed a new system for using magnetic beams in many applications specially in defense and space. One of its main applications is to repel hostile drone attacks. The innovative system is based on the use of advanced magnet technology to create a "magnetic shield" to repel hostile attacks from drones, which are either directed remotely, or have pre-programmed routes.

The technology also provides the potential to expand its defense capabilities and create a magnetic shield that can counter any kind of military attacks. “Drones widespread in the past few years, so the risks that these aircrafts pose have increased. This could cause damage to the main infrastructure, and paralyze both trade and travel in many countries,” said Mohamed Saleh, founder and chairman, Cusp Technologies.

Mohamed Saleh is the founder

He added that the company has conducted a recent study to develop technology and systems that enhance the capabilities of countering the attacks of these aircrafts. It concluded that magnetic beam techniques can be used in the applied and military fields, as these technologies are designed to protect certain areas, pointing out that the features of these technologies is the result of 5 years of research, and hard work.
He pointed out that the new technology proved very positive results in preventing drone attacks, with the possibility of expanding its capabilities and being useful in other fields such as space technology. Saleh confirmed that another research study is currently being conducted in cooperation with a specialized American company, in order to increase the effect of the magnetic beam to a range of up to 100 km.

The new technology is scheduled to be displayed on a special platform that will be launched during the "IDEX 2021" and” NAVDEX 2021”exhibitions, which will be held between February 21-25 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center. More than 60 countries are participating in the two exhibitions, with 1,300 companies. The events boost Abu Dhabi's international position and its ability to attract various countries to participate in one of the most important international events specialized in the defense industries , despite the circumstances and challenges imposed by the "Covid-19" pandemic worldwide.
"IDEX 2021" and "NAVDEX 2021" are being organized by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company, "ADNEC", in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense and the General Command of the UAE Armed Forces. The two exhibitions shed more light on the latest developments in the defense industries in terms of technology, advanced and innovative equipment. They help to develop the national defense industries sector, as well as to establish strategic partnerships between the various participating parties and major international companies specialized in these industries.
The two exhibitions and the conference will be a chance to discuss the best ways of developing technologies that help to face the ever-changing challenges facing our world and to develop security and defense strategies that contribute to achieving and boosting world peace. As for the women part there are many who work with EDGE/Halcon and other defense companies in the field of inventions.. Some of them are building all these Halcon missiles we see coming out like babies lately..

Fatima Al Kaabi has around 14 inventions to her name.. She is currently working with AI.

She was awarded by the UAE gov't since she was the youngest inventor by the age of only 18 she made multiple inventions.

She was born a super-child..
1627721322569.png

She developed 12 other inventions, including a solar charging bag for devices, a robot called the teleporter that attends school in place of sick children, an electronic belt for the hearing impaired, and a smart steering system that stops people from texting while driving.

Eida Butti Al Muhairbi Is even more impressive and hyper inventor.. The fun part is she just looks like a regular housewife but make no mistake she is gifted with a brillant brain..
_ADm3xFc_400x400.jpg

Eida Butti Al Muhairbi has 100 international inventions in her name.

Emirati inventor Eida Butti Al Muhairbi, who has 100 international inventions in her name, is definitely one woman the UAE will be proud of. Out of her 100 inventions, 46 are registered with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).

Eida, who works as an operations financial manager with Zakum Development Company (ZADCO) in Abu Dhabi, is the winner of the 'Shaikha Shamsa bint Suhail Award for Creative Women'.

With determination and dedication, the self-funded chemist and accountant, who has a degree in chemistry and accountancy from the UAE University in Al Ain, has turned her house into a lab where tools and samples are everywhere.

Eida started her journey with inventions when she was in her elementary school, where she used to turn anything into a fantastic piece of art. "I still remember when I made a unique hand bag at that time, and also designed a dress at the secondary school that is widely worn these days."

The 100-invention journey of Eida and her team has never been a coincidence. "It is rather the fruit of organised and systematic work based on unlimited ambitions and commitment to dig and delve for more convenient life to all the society," Eida told Khaleej Times.

'Multi-purpose drones' is the latest invention of Eida and her three-member scientific team, which she initially formed with her Jordanian husband Engineer Wasfi Al Shedaifat whom she met in 2004, and later joined by another engineer Farah Afif Qassab.

"The first group of these drones is dedicated for police services whereas the second is specified for civil operations, particularly delivery and logistics services for different types of cargos."

Other inventions

Another remarkable invention of Eida is the 'universal car cover'. This easily-foldable cover covers and protects all parts of the car. "It is actually a development of the accordion car cover which I have initially invented with the help of my husband back in 2012 and got a Chinese patent on the same," she said.

Some other examples of Eida and her team's masterpieces are 3D phone, a semi-inflatable tyre, a washing machine with separate chambers for cleaning different colour and type clothes at one time, and a disk-operated iron that fixes the clothes on a cylinder that can be easily pressurised, stored, and moved to do the job in a shorter time and safer way. The first professional female golf player in the Gulf and also a pottery artist, believes in a strict work code of ethics. "To come up with 100 internationally accredited inventions need full determination, will, dedication, courage, sacrifice, learning, reading, careful meditation, experiment, as well as exchange of ideas and distribution of tasks."

Unlike inventors in the developed countries where they are spared for their scientific researches and paid very well, Eida and her team are self-funded and could not help taking loans to finance their inventions.

"I and my husband, who is also a brilliant inventor and author of many scientific books about the universe, had to do many of our experiments in very tough weather conditions in distant areas as we do not have any facilities here in the country to try our inventions," she said, noting that she had turned her house into a kind of workshop...There are tools and samples in every corner of the house."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is just the tip of the iceberg there are other super-kid types building rocket engines for Halcon and I mean local women forget men..

The US is now even stealing UAE talent

Reem Al Marzouqi (Arabic: ريم المرزوقي‎ ) is an Emirati engineer and the first citizen of the UAE to be granted a patent in the United States of America for designing a car that can be driven without hands.

Its not just middle east issue it's a global issue that people focus on wrong hero or influencers
But I think world is changing now we have someone like Elon musk that is a better icon than Kardashians but still better icons like scientists are not popular but time will change it
