The Type 094 SSBN with pump-jet

Lala, isn't AIP for the classic diesel engines, whereas Pump-jet is a completely new form of propulsion technology (minus the propeller, as in other diesel/nuclear subs) I read a paper on it long long time back. Maybe I'm confusing many things together.

There are AIP/Pumpjet hybrids too.

.
Now I get it............ a simple concept in the books, however, would be hell to apply fluid dynamics calcs on that level of engineering.

Lala, pumpjet is fluid-dynamics issue. AIP/PJ hybrid, a completely different thing. Both are non related yet complementary in the sense of a "submarine". This pumpjet issue is a very old concept, however, very difficult to apply at such level of engineering.

Trust me, have solved millions of differential equations regarding this! :D

Is pump jet more silent than traditional propeller?

Yes, except for directly behind the submarine.

Also, pump jet is suitable for nuclear submarines where power isn't a problem.

While pump jet has been experimented upon diesel-electric subs, it is too heavy, less efficient, and a drain on the diesel-electric submarine batteries.

According to the US report, it is the 5th Type 094 boats, and the satellite pic was taken on October 2013.

Is This China’s 5th Type 094 SSBN Under Construction? | Open Source IMINT

Well, i wonder if this can be the Type 094B improved variant with the pump-jet feature.

BTW, it is logical that China will test its pump-jet technology on the current Type 094/093 platform first before it goes to the coming Type 096/095 platform.

I am sure if the program is finalized for:
SSBN: 7000 Tons
SSKs: 3500 Tons
SSKs: 1600-1800 Tons
Coastal - SSKs: 0700 Tons
SSG-Sub: 110-210 Tons
Rescue Submarine

Pakistan, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia and may be Morocco will join in this program.

I am sure the program cost will be far less...

China is unlikely to sell SSBNs to anyone.
