The Two Types of Liberal Muslims

+) One is interested in acknowledging and challenging extremism in Muslim communities, so he founded Quilliam.
-) The other is interested in 'improving the image' of Muslims, so he founded Aslan Media.

+) One was born in a secular country, turned to Islamism, now campaigns against this theocratic fascism.
-) The other fled an Islamist regime in his country and settled in the land of secular freedoms, only to be in denial about the problem of Islamism in the Muslim world.

+) One stands up for the rights of ex-Muslims, supports freethinkers like Raif Badawi.
-) The other never speaks in support of ex-Muslims and freethinkers.

+) One reaches out to anti-Muslim bigots [Tommy Robbinson etc] and hardcore atheists [Ayaan, Sam Harris] and try to moderate their views on Islam and Muslims.
-) The other allies himself with reactionaries, plays the 'Islamophobia' card, paints Muslims as a race and ultimately strengthens the populist Islamist narrative of "Us vs Them".

This so called ''liberal'' is a Munfiq through and through. Why doesn't he come to Pakistan and debate us?

O you who have believed, enter into Islam completely [and perfectly] and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy. (Surah Al-Baqarah v 208)

There is something in the water, or in the air of waliyath - they produce extremists on both ends of the spectrum.
