In July 2014 it emerged that Tunisia had requested 12 UH-60Ms but with recent contracts the North African country will receive now 16 Black Hawks.

The UH-60M Black Hawk variant Tunisia will receive is the most advanced model of the UH-60/S-70 series, and can be armed with rockets and missiles. The first eight helicopters Tunisia will get will be in a green (unmodified) configuration but Tunisia has requested Battlehawk kits to effectively turn the aircraft into attack helicopters. As part of the deal Tunisia will get 24 7.62 mm M134 Miniguns, 24 12.7 mm (.50 inch) GAU-19 Gatling guns, 20 M299 Hellfire missile pods and 24 70 mm Hydra rocket pods with 9 100 Hydra rocketsand 100 AGM-114R Hellfire missiles

Other equipment will include 15Wescam MX-15Di or Brite Star II electro-optical/infrared designators and 30 AN/AVS-9 night-vision goggles. The countermeasures suite is to comprise AN/APR-39A(V)4 radar warning receivers, AN/AAR-57 missile warning systems, and AN/AVR-2B(V)1 laser warning systems.

Congrats to Tunisia. Battlehawk kits with miniguns, gatling guns, hellfires etc, nice attack helo conversion. They're doing everything right.

Tunisia is trying to build a smart and well equipped army of about 100 thousand personnel..

Indeed. They're playing their cards perfectly. They don't need a large, complicated army. They're a small country and a small, well trained and well equipped specialized military force which includes their navy and airforce is customized perfectly for their needs. And putting a lot of emphasis on their special forces.

now the army is around 80k which is quit good number and the defense is in good road to modernize the army as seen in the personnel gear on nrmal infantry and Special Forces

as my friend Gomig-21 said we have a squadron of F-5s but I think it will be replaced in 2020 by new jets there's a project for that.

Are they're mentioning anything specific or someone they're talking to etc?
They should definitely keep the F-5s for as long as they can since they are excellent aircraft.

The Gripen has less chance than the F-16.. only Brazil bought the Gripen..

South Africa has 26 of them since 2008. Hungary an Czechoslovakia are leasing to buy 14 each and have been operating them for a while now. Tunisia would be the only Arab country the Swedes wouldn't mind selling them to. They can even work out a lease to buy program since they love democratic countries.

It is more troublesome to get parts for them..since they have joint European and US parts.. It is a very good plane that will fit a small smart armed forces like what Tunisia is trying to build.. Viper too can be a good option.. so let's wait and see..
