International relations is not based on friendship or kinship. You may have an affinity or goodwill towards a certain nation state but that needs to be translated into something meaningful absence of which means you will be stuck in outdated paradigms.

Weapons that your 'friend' can either disable, or provide their counter-measures to your enemy, or provide in such limited quantity so as to be ineffective, or limit their spare parts during war, or take money for them and give you wheat!!!!!!! A 'friend' whose stated objective is to never arm you to an extent that you gain superiority over India. Some 'friend' you have indeed!!!!

The enemy you know well becomes less dangerous than the enemy you don't. This is one of the major reason they keep us close to heart (front pocket actually) where they milk us good and give us just enough to stay relevant in the region while holding on all the good things and good quantities for the likes of their friends - Israel for instance.
