#Very Important: Launch of the bright star maneuvers next month

I just commented about this in the EGY Armed Forces thread without knowing you had opened this one. Looking forward to it for sure. It's been a while and a lot has happened since then. The US financial bubble burst instigated the end of this great military get-together that has been a classic for decades. Then all the turmoil in the ME happened and it's been a tough 8-10 years since the last one. Good to see things getting back to the old days. Like I mentioned on the other thread, I remember the first one in 1980 like it was yesterday.

Yes that was BSE 2009.

Pakistan should be part of this every time, especially with it heading the Islamic Alliance. It should be an intricate part of this land, air & sea combined exercise. PAF should bring its F-16's or JF-17's and perform all the air exercises they do. Most of them are air refueling qualifications and formation flying and a lot of the more friendly-type exercises. If anything it creates more of a familiarity amongst the militaries of the different nations, which is really the main goal of this thing. Paratroopers jumping out of C-130's and C-117's together and these combined, armed beach assaults, troop obstacle courses and even armored exercises. Swaping weapons at firing ranges, demonstrations of tactics and equipment and even social events for the different nations to interact and form friendships. They even have a mass-casualties exercise with medics responding to a simulation of a major incident etc.

Bright Star will take place from September 10th to the 20th and be held mostly in the new Mohammad Naguib military base. A lot of focus on anti-terrorism warfare this time around.

It never happened that way...The most important facet of the wargame is the visit to the pyramids, so they can milk the Americans of their dollars, that the way it happen in the past and that the way it will happen the Future..The war game always benefits the US in guetting all their components working together..They are not meant to train with the Egyptian army or the Moroccan Army (they do it with the FAR) almost every year..The training is made for them, on how to invade different countries...no more no less...Just give a look to the actual state of the Egyptian army in Sinai or in Yemen and you can judge for yourself that she needs more than watching African gi's dusting off their boots in the Egyptian desert....
Algerian Air Force used to have a get together with their Belgium counterpart, but found out after 2 or 3 exercises that the Belges weren't interested in the games, but were more interested in gathering operationnfrequrnces used by the Algerians..So they stopped the games...

.
