People copy each other at different points of the history, that's how we develop and got it here, the west was more developed than the east in the last couple of hundred years, so it's normal to see the east copied more from than west than the other way around, but that's chaning, two hundred years from now, it can be quite the opposite, I see open to new ideas and ability of adopting better everything a nation's strength, not a weakness.

Unfortunately you will find that in retarded societies superficial has overtaken substance. This can be seen in societies that are drowning in filth, poverty and backwardness but insist on touting their so called heritage which in large measure was what fcuked them up in the first place. In other words they want to clutch on to and repeat the very same recipe which attracted pimps from across the globe to be used by them to their satisfaction. South Asia, Africa, Arabia are perfect expositions of this phenomenon.

if you guys in China applied this, you would still be going around in pig tails, wearing those kimono outfits, your females would still be hopping on three sizes small shoes and bowing to the celestial emperor etc

Never heard of it, but to be honest, I think it sounds terrible, it's like something from the cultural revolution time.

I don't know, I think people and nations always change/adjust themselves with time and development, some do it faster and some do it slower, if something doesn't, it can be a reason why they are still there, if not for the development that may be for stability and social cohesion, I might be wrong though, I have only limited knowledge on the regions you mentioned.

As for Soviet songs, they have been always popular since our grandparents generations, China and Russia used to be hand in glove with each other during the 1950's, Soviet songs were known and sung by everyone in China then, besides, I think those songs are beautiful and inspirational per se.
