The chief designer of the unified aircraft company (ОАК) Sergei Korotkov announced in an interview on May 3 to reporters. He said that the engine is only for that aircraft. The early models of the A-50 fighter had earlier been supplied with fourth-generation "117" engines.
He explained that the technical specifications of the new engine far outweigh the specifications of engine "117" in terms of fuel efficiency and momentum. Its design and technological specifications fully comply with the global requirements of fifth-generation engines.
All T-50 Russian aircraft are expected to move to the fifth-generation engine by 2020.
The T-50 is a fifth-generation aircraft equipped with modern aircraft avionics and equipments, compared to its previous generation of the fourth generation aircrafts, as well as the radar "matrix of the modern phase."
