The Rise of Bangladesh as a Regional Power

.
We may require help from China but won't be needing help from Pakistan. Pakistan is not in a position to help anybody except itself. Thanks for the kind gesture though.
Actually Pakistan can help Bangladesh in defence sector. Pakistan is rapidly developing in aviation and missile technology. Their battle tank technology is also good. Bangladesh can gain much in defence sector by collaborating with Pakistan. Most importantly, China-Pakistan-Bangladesh close collaboration can check Hindutva force's aggressive posture in this region and make them to eat humble pie.

There are many other countries who can do so, China, Turkey, South Korea, South Africa, Brazil etc.

Hasina hit back: 'This is a flagitious and unjustified proposal. It is never acceptable... we are happy with our 54,000 square mile or 147,000 square kilometre territory... Fire has engulfed wherever they (US) gave hand ... peace didn't come anywhere and militancy and unrest were created.'

'We are trying to maintain peace in the region, but there are efforts by them (the US) to light fire... it's never acceptable.'
She may be exaggerating but she has a point: there was nothing more shameful in post-WWII U.S. policy than its support of West Pakistani oppression of its Eastern compatriots, especially in 1971 - and that was a political decision, one where President Nixon overrode the rest of the government.

While the U.S. has given aid and support to Bangladesh since, because of this ugly history U.S. politicians should not just tread carefully but with great modesty when suggesting Bangladesh change its policies to suit U.S. interests or fancies - especially policies that may threaten Bangladeshi security or identity.

You are wrong. Recently declassified documents have confirmed what we in the West Pakistan always doubted that USA was hand in glove with India, USSR and Sheikh Mujeeb in dismemberment of Pakistan. American friendship has given us nothing except deception, deception and more deception. American policy only supports one country which is Israel. A strong Pakistan is considered as a threat by Israel, so we should not expect anything better coming from US camp for Pakistan. As far as Bangladesh is considered they better be watchful of the American trap. Pakistan has suffered very very badly due to American so-called friendship. They better maintain balance between China, Russia and USA for best results.

I agree with this assessment. I am aware that Pakistan has invested and made progress on several fronts, especially small arms manufacture, aviation/drone technology as well as short and medium range tactical missiles (even submarine-launched varieties).

There have been good progress on APC's, IFV's development as well as volume-priced battle tanks like Al-zarrar.

In shipbuilding, I believe we can lend Pakistan a hand for smaller LPC's and corvettes. Private yards in Bangladesh have built many smaller craft for Pakistani companies. The number of our yards are many times higher than those in Pakistan. This was true pre-1971 and even more so today. So we have build facilities sq. yardage available for usage which Pakistan lacks as well as low cost of labor.

Current generation of Pakistanis have done nothing wrong with or against our country. I enjoy personal friendships with many Pakistani brothers since our cultures have many common elements.

Trolling and harassing aside in PDF, most younger Pakistanis in real life want friendly relations with Bangladesh. This is a strategic posture and is not Ummah-based or emotionally-charged thinking.

Quit blaming USA for your collective incompetence
You are asked to seek political solution by both American and Chinese leaders in 1971. you disregarded advice of your friends and paid the price

I take this comment as an offhanded remark by the esteemed Congressman. Hasina is right on her stance.
