THE MATH OF HOW CHINA SURPASSES USA IN 5 YEARS

.
US GDP PER CAPITA $65,000 pre-pandemic, China GDP PER CAPITA $10,000 roughly.... x6.5 is huge difference.
But even the huger difference is the cost of living, with $10,000 average Chinese can still save much of their money into the banks while with $65,000 many Americans can not even make their ends meet.

I disagree $65,000 is just amazing, the highest per capita gdp of any major country.

. .
US is facing unprecedented rivalry. China has potential and driving force larger than that of US.

I disagree, there have been many challenges US has faced throughout its history and it has come out on top every time. Sure there are a few lost battles but the wars have always resulted in US favor. US always rises to the occasion let's see what happens this time.

.
So what? As long as China has better growth that will be surpassed too.
In term of PPP, China GDP per capita is $20K, so just US percapita is just 3.2x larger.
Remove a billion people from Chinas population they still would have more people. I don't see China overtaking US gdp per capita before 2060, whats your opinion?

The numbers don't always reflect the facts on the ground, no matter how much you make, if you have to pay more than you make, you have a miserable life.

China is already on the top in most categories, trade, industries, manufacturing...US just hold the top spot for GDP number, which is just a big bubble having not much physical assets to back it.

.
The major cause why US could surpass China was due to the the China decline caused by western invasion and corruption in China.

Are you saying the 100's of millions in Great China were overwhelmed by a few super Westerners on a couple of ships??? No planes back then BTW.

We Westerners must have truly been feared by mere mortal men.

Speaking of GDP...what's up with yours and a 270M+ population...

I feel that US has become laid back with no challenge in the world. Will China surpass US in 5 years? I doubt it but it will certainly force US to get back to the days of post WWII competition with USSR. Good times ahead.

Actually the point we are trying to make is that China has been laid back for the last 150 or so years.

Now that their people are actually working even with a mediocre effort they should with their far larger population pass the US.

How they haven't yet is the puzzle.

Exactly, it’s pathetic. Year after year, I hear this and it still doesn’t happen. The day it does happen, is it cause for celebration when you have 4-5 times the population?

It should definitely be celebrated by the people of China and China's friends. They achieved it with tremendous hardwork and sacrifices.

In 5 years or 20 years, more importantly the China is rising at fast pace. Unfortunately some people/nations couldn't digest this rise.

The US has a joking way to measure their fiat economy, I wrote an article discussing it before.

The number in US is highly inflated comparing to China, most, if not all, key industrial output in China is far far ahead of that in the US, many are magnitudly larger.

Actually most of China's industrial output account for 30% to 60% of the entire world output, don't comparing to the US, since there is no comparison.

So basically you cannot comparing GDP number in China to these in the US, and nowadays PPP is not accurate at measuring economy either, one reason is massive industrial goods trading with China will make the country has an inflated PPP estimation as well.

I have little doubt that your industrial output is larger than the US since both the US and Europe have outsourced most of our manufacturing starting in the 1970's due to unsustainable levels of water/land/air pollution in our respective countries...and of course cost.

Well, tell that to your president
