The Kargil Conflict Revisited

Its time for a sticky thread in Kargil......

Both side suffered damage. We all know what happened. So question should not be what happened, who faced more damage.
Question should be Why ?
Was Kargil necessary ?
Do Pakistani support this Kargil operation.
Pakistani should not see it as India-Pakistan conflict only. It is also about hundreds of Pakistani soldiers who were killed in this war and they were buried in India. Just think about the families of these soldiers. It's easy to expect a lot from a soldier to sacrifice but their sacrifices should not be taken granted.

Because on these basis we can decide that we ll have peace in future or not .

And why are we gidding this up right now? Is this because elections are cominng and mushraf wana come to pakistan?......
Hold that thought .......the reason this topic is being dug up now so that musharaf can come to pakistan.....mark my words comission will be formed and it will order mushi to come before it.....and mushi will walk away from commision but end up in pakistan :d

Super Bull Sh!T lies. Indians just love to blame others for their major errors & major mistakes.

yeah these stupid indians ordered the NLI to occupy the deserted post high up on the hills inside the indian territory and then when the pak army occupied these posts the indians as usual back stabbed :disagree:.

One has got sick of these Kargil threads .

Agreed.

Kargil affair has been discussed and beaten to death and the new book by LT Gen Shahid Aziz which reopened this debate says nothing new on the affair itself. In my opinion, primary purpose of the book is character assassination of Pervez Musharraf and getting cheap publicity for the author.

I haven’t read the book and only know excerpts that came up for discussions and from the comments of Gen Shahid Aziz on various talk shows. I have one very pertinent question. Gen Shahid Aziz was DGMO during October 1999 coup. Director General Military Operations virtually runs the whole Pakistan Army; this means that most of the military movement and the orders emanated from his desk.

It did not bother his conscience slightest bit when he was engineering the overthrow of an elected Prime Minister? Reminds me of Ghalib's famous couplet:

Ki merai qatal kay baad oos nay jafaa say tauba
Hi oos zood pashaimaan ka pashaimann hona.

(My beloved swore an oath to refrain from cruelty after murdering me, praise be on the repentance of that early repented) in other words what is the point of shutting the door of the stable after the horse has bolted?

This illustrates fickleness of the man and is indicative of the spineless character of some of the Pakistan Army top brass. I wouldn't put much weight on the words of such a turncoat!

The author has made Pakistan a laughing stock as India has got another major story to prove that one can't trust Paksitan's Leadership.

He has not only brought the credibility of Pakistan but also dented the image of Pakistan Army. In any case, whether it was Musharraf's fault or this author's revelations, one thing is clear that Pakistani Top Brass has people like these.

India should forget Kashmir issue and focus on development. There is no point in discussing Pakistani on K issue. First pakistani decide themself what they want.

One faction come for talk , another backstab with Kargil/26-11/terrorism...

Close the K threads...

Are you sure these were PA personnel or in the hurry to burry the dead you put your own men in our flag. You do know the difference between the two flags?

If you had so many of our dead men then why didn't your army showed them to the media. It would have been a great victory for them.

I don't think it's ethical to display dead bodies of soldiers, it's never been done for media gain.

It was a great victory anyway.. We did not need to ride of the shoulders of dead Pakistani soldiers who died for an uncalled for, unplanned blunder of a Pakistani general (now criminal)..

an "elected" president elected on phony voters and who as looting the country left right and center-----and remember nawaz made him cOAS in the belief that pervez would not opposes nawaz's looting ---it's wonder that nawaz&co were not hanged or guillotined...

The figures, however, stand completely at odds with the Indian estimate of 1,100-plus killed on the Pakistani side. These were based on reports after counting of graves on the Pakistan side. Then Army chief V P Malik notes in his book on Kargil that 270 Pakistan soldiers were buried in India.

Musharraf now has Pak’s Kargil toll: 357 - Indian Express
