Don't know what the OP's intentions are but still a very interesting reading. One doesnt have to agree with a post to have some 'thought-provoking' reading.
M.A.Jinnah--the founder of Pakistan stood head and shoulders above his contemporary leaders in his time. Only if he had lived as long as Nehru did...Pakistan's destiny would be different.

There is no doubt that jinnah was smart man. But his fellow leagueans were "kotay sikay". Pakistan is result of efforts of one man, jinnah. I.e whole pakistan movement was one man show.

Comes from the Gujarati word "Jhinaa", which means small.

Jinnah was a non-sectarian like all Muslims are meant to be. The same way you are born and you think that all Muslims are the same before you go to your mosque and the Mullah tells you "Wahabis is this" and "Shias are that". He didn't subscribe to any sect, he was for all Muslims hence Pakistan.

In the beginning he may have been a Ismaeli but chances are 99% that his family became a Shia because of marriage, very few people actually convert to the Shiia Islam. Anyway Jinnah was open-minded and it is only after his death that people started claiming he was sunni or shia.

I go to deobandi mosque but I'm not a deobandi and I read a quran translation by wahabis, I still don't consider myself either apart from a Muslim and that is how it was untill about 200 years ago.

His Skinny son was called Zino (dublo / patalo as in Gujarati). He was also called ‘Ziniyo’ by elders in the family. This nickname remained the same, even after the conversion. Thus Jinnah’s Father became Jinnahbhai Poonja and his(Jino)'s son opted Jinnabhai (then just Jinna and later Jinnah) as his family name.

incidentally, like father Jinnah too was a skinny man.

Liaqat ali khan was not sunni, he was shia.
After 1947 we see jinnah praying nimaz, in the manner of sunnis, it was necessary political action. But he personally never issued any statement in his life time that he is converting to twelver. Remember even qadianis at that time were active in pakistan movement as muslims, so why an ismaeli would feel the need to convert to twelver?

Yes but he never prescribed to such a 'labeling' ! I'm what one would call a Sunni but I do admire and prescribe to certain aspects of the 'Jafri School of Jurisprudence' ! What would that make me ? I think similarly Jinnah transcended these differences and he, like Iqbal, looked at these different opinion about the same thing as exactly that - different opinions; but they abhorred this sectarian labeling that makes a distinction between 'us and them' and vice versa for the other sect !

That's off topic. Jinnah was clearly either twelver shia or ismaili at the time of his death. Forget about that. It's important to understand, that history did give him a glimpse of what could happen in a state like Pakistan. His family experienced it.

Going to quote a very famous saying of Jinnah.... In a large muslim gathering, Someone asked Jinnah, Are you shia or sunni?

Jinnah replied," Tell me, Mohammad (P.B.U.H) was sunni or shia?"

So he used to declare himself only Muslim..... Many people here forgetting very important aspect... the influence of Moulana Shabbir ahmad usmani on Quaid e azam... Moulana Shabbir was a religious guide and close aide of Jinnah

Religious aspects of Jinnah are always remain hidden.... According to his secretary, Jinnah used to pray Thajjud prayers.

Once Moulana Shabbir came to meet Jinnah, Jinnah servant told him to wait, as jinnah was busy in something. Moulana shabbir, came out of house and start waking in lawn. As he passes by of some window, he heard weeping sounds, he took a peak and saw Jinnah was sitting on a prayer mate and weeping and praying for the safety of Pakistan....

Jinnah was a master of disguise... He never revealed himself to public but only as a charismatic, secular type leader.
