India is busy building dams on all rivers flowing into Pakistan from occupied Kashmir & Punjab to regain control of water of western rivers in violation of Indus Treaty.

This is being done under well thought out strategy to render Pakistan’s link-canal system redundant, destroy agriculture of Pakistan which is its mainstay and turn Pakistan into a desert.

India has already built 14 hydroelectric plants on Chenab River and is building more plants which will enable it to block entire water of Chenab for 20-25 days.

These dams have also enabled India to release huge quantity of water downstream not only to cause damage to standing crops but also to our canal systems. Chenab River provides water to 21 canals and irrigates about 7 million acres of agriculture land in Punjab province of Pakistan.

According to the latest study titled ‘Mountains of Concrete: Dam Building in the Himalayas’, Pakistan is on the brink of water disaster and its availability would plunge to 800 cubic meters per capita annually by 2020 from the current 1,200 cubic meters. Just 60 years ago, 5,000 cubic meters of water was available to every Pakistani citizen.

In last 40-50 years groundwater in Punjab, Pakistan have fallen with approximately 200-300 feets. In addition to that India is building dams & canals on the 3 pakistani Indus water treaty rivers , while 3 southern Indus water treaty rivers the control 100 %

So situation for Pakistan is alarming. Pakistan must talk with China to build some kind of water delivery system from Chinese province of Tibet to Pakistan. Currently many rivers have their origin in Tibet plateau. Put it in CPEC

Biggest issue is huge mismanagement of water resources by pakistani authorities,massive wastage,total negligence of infrastructure still dating back to british era due to corruption.India has not violated IWT ,which is advantageous to pakistan anyway.Any international arbitration will prove it.

I wished that PML-N goverment did build water reservoirs all over Pakistan instead of diverting 100 % attention and funds to build useless metro inn many cities, while groundwater have sunked with several feets. Else people will not have water left in next 5 years in Pakistan.

Instead of building metros , goverment should sit with Chineese experts and discuss how Pakistan can revamp whole water infrastructure in Pakistan and put it in CPEC.

Discuss possibilities to lay water transportation pipes from Tibet , China to Pakistan.

Else Pakistan should build some kind of infrastructure in Gilgit Baltistand, KPK, Siachen so melted snow water flowes in direction of Pakistan, maybe that is enough for Pakistans needs if properly handled.

Pakistanis should stop waisting water.
