In the past the PAF has shown its superiority. In the 1965 war, Pakistani fighter pilots shot down 119 Indian aircraft, while only losing 20 of their own. In fact, the Pakistan airforce has never lost an air battle to India, despite being 6 times smaller. The 1965 aerial war ratio is the second best in history, coming behind the Israeli air force during the Six day war. But, recently the IAF is gaining considerable advances. Russian state of the art 5th generation Sukhoi fighter jets are being supplied to India. India has the Sukhoi su-27 and will soon acquire the Sukhoi PAK stealth fighter. India's aircraft inventory is winning the race. We are getting JF-17 thunders. When you honestly compare the JF-17 to the Sukhoi su-30 mki, you have to be honest and say that the Sukhoi will destroy the JF-17. The Sukhoi has state of the art BVR radars and missiles. The Paf may have been dominant in the past in dogfighting, but modern day aerial combat consists mostly of BVR fights. Dogfights are not likely anymore, as aircraft will fire missiles at each other from a distance, and not get close enough to engage each other in a dogfight. The paf doesn't have any aircraft with advance BVR fighting technology. And our f-16s are aging, and the Indians have far better aircraft than us. But, jets put aside, in a war, it comes down to the pilot and his training. But, the IAF is certainly gaining the upper Hand in the regional arms race

Actually Pakistan lost 2 aircraft not 20(may be he added one zero by mistake) even that two aircraft lost coz of technical glitches :azn:.

Dude can you please shed light on what 6th generation fighters are being supplied to India? Russia has yet to induct a 5th generation fighter jet.
IAF has maintained an edge for a very long time now and considering the difference between their and our economy, the gap is going to increase. However what we can do at best is to make sure that a minimum deterrence level is maintained denying IAF air superiority over Pakistani skies. For that role F-16s, JF-17, J-10 together with force multipliers such as AWACS, mid air re fuel etc will hold on their own and it wont be a cake walk for IAF.

Don't worry dear, Pakistani pilots are twice good as compared to Indian Pilots. No need to worry.

Its the man behind the wheel, not the vehicle.

I would recomend newbies to first obsorb the available wealth of information on this website before gracing us with their whatever stuff. The information pools are there to be exploited, so are the discussion threads. Its a pity that people like to rather run to wikipedia or dont even bother doing some reading before making posts and opening threads.
