The Imran Kham Syndrome
Watch him very carefully. He is a rising star at a time when the nation is passing through an extremely critical phase of its contemporary history. He is an instinct leader, a quality that was polished and groomed when he captained the national cricket team. Largely based on this leadership qualities and strong self-belief, the national team under his captaincy was inspired to win the 1992 Cricket Championship. The majority of commentators then said that his captaincy and self-belief under pressure was the main factor in winning that historic match, beating England, which is the undisputed headquarters of cricket. In a sense, Imran Khan has theorized a new chapter in the fascinating game of cricket. He added the fourth dimension, which is not Einstein's "time" but Imran's "faith" and abstraction.
In the political arena, Imran Khan is facing tremendous difficulties. Politicians are characterized by the trait of playing unfair games. They used negative tactics to cast doubt on him by digging deep into his private life. True, Imran Khan is a controversial person and an open book. However, who is perfect and immune from indiscretion? Ostensibly, Imran Khan has found a way out. After all, it was he who groomed the "dosra" and "googly," in the fascinating world of cricket. Thus, Imran Khan has been able to outwit his critics and adversaries.
Undeterred by negative propaganda and media mudslinging, Imran Khan has resurrected his charisma by pleading change and freshness. He calls for an alternate leadership, rule of law, rebuilding national institutions, rediscovering Quaid-i-Azam vision of moderate and liberal Pakistan, the supremacy of law, accountability and transparency. He courageously rejects foreign dictation, mobilizes the masses against drone attacks and waging war on the behest of foreign powers. Imran Khan does make a sense and many valid points.
Realizing the blunder committed by the ruling elites by trusting the aliens, Imran Khan is leading a campaign against involving the armed forces in the so-called war on terror. He openly opposes turning Pakistan to become servant of America. He is rejecting USAID and IMF's loans and calls for economic independence, which is a prelude to genuine political independence and self-esteem.
Imran Khans does not shy from establishing firm Islamic identity of Pakistan. Thus, he was never apologetic in matters pertaining to Islam. He strongly criticized desecration of Holy Quran in a US military prison at Guantanamo Bay naval Base in Cuba. He fully supports minorities in line with his slogan "Justice, Humanity and Self-Esteem."
In the small hours of 14th august, he called for celebrating the 64th anniversary of the establishment of Pakistan at the Constitutional Avenue. Thousand of people, mainly youth, responded. People sang national songs, danced and integrated as one unit to give the nation a message of hope and revival. The arena was wide open. However, no political party could venture to show up at Constitutional Avenue. The celebration started, continued and ended with Imran Khan. He balled all opponents with a perfect fast in- swinger.
