What's new

The ground under Hasina's feet is shifting: Hindustan Times

Nope. This is looser talk. Democracy does give space for people who can commit to their goals and work to influence majority opinion.
Yes ,so you admit that majority of your countrymen gave BJP the mandate to torture Muslims!

It's the beauty of democracy!

Democracy in third world countries = tyranny of majority!

Nupur Sharma said our prophet(sm) to meet his sexual hunger married 9 year old Ayesha(as).

So what do you think muslims had a problem with, Ayesha being 9 year old or saying prophet (sm) because of lust for young girls married his wife.

Ayesha (ra)being 9 year is from muslim sources and still under islamic sharia you can marry a pubescent girl. Its only in last 100 years law was put in to get girls married at older age. Most of our grandparents got married at early ages that never made them a pedophile, that was the norm then and still girls can get married at 14 in Alaska USA.

As you are a christian, you should now Marry(as) mother of Jesus(as) was 12 when he gave birth to him. Rebecca is the wife Issac(as) she was 3 years old when she was married.

These sort of comments on character we cant tolarate about our family even forget our beloved prophet.
By all accounts, Hazrat Ayesha RA was over 16 and closer to 18 years of age when the marriage was consumated; it is the act of consumation that is significant for the age.

Moreover, you are right that our grand parents and their parents have a history of early marriages as is the fact that the age of 14-18 for marriage is a recent invention of the West. Also, it is fine for minors to engage in sexual activities in many countries of the world if the difference in their age is not too big and teens engage in sexual activities all over the world.

But what is most disturbing is the fact that people actually try and criminalize the sanctity of marriage just to satisfy their own personal little religious egos.

What is there to 'admit'? Majority of the electorate preferred to vote for BJP. Take a gold star for staring the obvious

Many people cannot read maps. Gwadar Port to western China to Shanghai vicinity is a long distance compared to using the sea voyage directly to Shanghai. Sea routes are much cheaper than road and rail transports.

I persoanally do not think China has any advantage using Gwadar Port. However, trades needed for Xinjiang can be done via Gwadar. Look at the map.

In any case, China will rethink if this route is also safe for transport.

Add to it, roads almost always aren't straight. The distance of travel is more than in the image.
Secondly the CPEC goes through one of the highest valleys making it less likely to be economically viable

I wish BD citizens do not follow the Indian example of electing religious radicals.

Congress Party favored Muslims and the majority Hindu went against the Congress.

This may be repeated in BD. The BAL party favors Hindus and the Muslims may elect radical Muslims from many Islamic parties instead of BNP and BAL.

The situation will be dreadful then in BD.

I wish the best for the people of Bangladesh in their pursuit of happiness

Indian democracy was flawed to start off with.

Modi has now made it a joke.

Indian democracy is a sham.
All South Asian democracies have some flaws. Indian democracy is good enough for the majority of Indian electorate. Indian citizens can bring electoral reforms if they feel it is necessary.

Why does Gangedesh always seem so jelous of its neighbors? most of history pakistan was far ahead of india, today even bangladesh is ahead in most sectors. Why cant hindus move on and worry about their own kind? why do they always find solace in negative news regarding their neighbors? does it help them sleep better at night?

I believe it has to do with indian culture, which is feminine, compared to islamic and western. Jealousy is often a attribute of femininity.

Seems like someone in Delhi is na-khosh..... :-)
Modi did not have the courtesy to meet our FM Alga Momen when the latter was visiting Delhi a few days ago. Momen was complaining.

What is the reason? Is Delhi Na-khosh with the BD govt for not sufficiently kowtowing or did Modi feel Momen would be insisting he lobby America to withdraw sanctions against BD?

All democracies have flaws. So have the south Asian countries. However, it is only BD that is an autocracy. BD has adopted a midnight vote-staffing election. Even Pakistan is a democracy.

People here are arguing against democracy because BD people are uneducated. At the same breath they would also claim that BD is 70% educated.

Bd has a long history of sound decisions that started with the 1946 Provincial election during British time. People decided on a Muslim League govt. The result was the creation of Pakistan.

And 1970 election is another story that made great history. The people chose an independent country, today's Bangladesh.

People here should not question people's wisdom and decision-making power.

Wow - never thought I'd see the day when Indian Media would write doomsday articles against Hasina.

@jamahir bhai, is HT part of Godi Media or at least Modi-supporting media outlet?

Seems like someone in Delhi is na-khosh..... :-)
BD can be termed as Bangladesh Corporation as media here speak in one voice and similar tone as democracy is absent and freedom of expression absent.

However, newspapers in India enjoy full freedom to express their opinions without the fear of getting hijacked and killed which is the case in BD.

So, Hindustan Times could publish the article without the fear of Modi backlash. India is a democracy and it developed with the use of its own human assets.

Can we claim the same for BD a fascist and autocrat country?

CPEC isn't a disaster on its own. Pakistan's myopic view of economic development, lack of investment in value-added products and a portrayal of CPEC as a singular saviour while neglecting it and playing both camps is what has doomed the project. Had Pakistan followed through with policies of increasing exports and steadily building its reserves, this would be a very different discussion. CPEC and the terms are not favourable by the sounds of it but the initiative could have resulted in benefits many of which will be negated by the sheer lack of foresight and accountability coupled with poor policy planning.
A country has to depend upon its people’s power that propels the country forward. No CPEC can cure its disease of non-industrialization and non-development.
