The Future of War, and How It Affects YOU (Multi-Domain Operations)

my question is how serious we are taking this Multi domain Operations, a USN 4 star General seems to take it very seriously .

Without going into too much background, China is on par, if not ahead, with the US as far as the Multi Domain Operations is concerned. One of the domains where the US has serious concerns is Cyber because China's dominance in 5G is giving it dominance in this theater which logically translates into overlapping of AI.

Due to heavy investment of China to conduct and to deal with Multi-Domain Operations, some of this knowledge and technology is now getting transferred to Pakistan Military. But these are early days and Pakistan Military has a lot to absorb. But I am glad that Pakistan Military is really concentrating on Net-Centric warfare because this is one of the critical prerequisites to fighting a multi-domain war.

Personally, I think there needs to be fundamental change in the way the Military here thinks.

Firstly, the new generation of Services Chiefs need be Multi-Services trained not only in Army, Navy, Air-force but Cyber, Space and AI. Also, the cream of the young leaders from Army, navy, Air-Force need to be trained under a new umbrella organisation of Joint Services.

Secondly, there needs to be a structural change where the Joint Chiefs of Staff becomes the most powerful rank.

Thirdly, there need to be major changes at tactical and operations.

Fourthly, the only way that a Military can successfully fight Multi-Domain war is to give more authority to the Soldiers to make certain decisions to ensure the outcome. This is against the traditional military command structure. Hence what this means is that all the new soldiers would need to be trained in certain way to make "Independent Decisions".

So this is going to be a mammoth task.

I wonder how serious our General take the threat of AI , Cyber and Space ? and if there is any initiative to address the future threats in this particular domain ?

The officers are well trained, and there is definitely knowledge and awareness within the military, but I don't think there are dedicated teams within the Military trained and deployed specifically for these tasks. Maybe another member here has more knowledge on the inner workings. Example, @Signalian .
